Hahahaha. Ok. So you’re using hyperbole and then can’t actually back it up. Not surprising. |
Last I checked, the media merely quoted the divisive things Trump has says, including when he told people this is the last time they would ever have to vote. Your weird, baseless attacks on the "media" are lazy. In this election, we have a choice between angry pessimism and fear being stoked by a demented old coot who was already impeached twice and convicted of 34 felonies and an upbeat, optimistic woman who has the energy and ideas to build on Biden's success and continue to help America reach its potential. I will say Kennedy is probably the only reason why Harris isn't polling above 50% and I think many of his voters will start falling away now that it's Harris. She's going to wipe the map with Trump and his divisive fear-mongering. I'll say one good thing for Trump, however: While he wildly mismanaged the COVID pandemic, he did get us the vaccines. He should stick THAT feather in his cap and call it macaroni. |
Liberals do. Whether we like it or not, progressives have had incredible success in pushing for liberal views on many issues at both the Federal and state level. Most Americans today are more in line with liberal than conservative thinking even among the ones that vote Republicans. Our education system has also been very successful at promoting liberal values very early on. |
I think people like me play a big role in the divisiveness in society today. I am a data scientist. My job is to slice and dice data and find clusters that will help a business maximize its outcome. That business could be the media. When I identify such clusters businesses are then able to focus on said clusters and design products that said clusters want. The media operates this way. It is more effective as a business entity if it focuses on specific customers and give them products that make them come back over and over. |

Exactly this. I consider myself a moderate Independent and I’ve voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the past. This time is different, though. I will vote for the Democratic candidates because this election is all about how our government will function going forward. A Trump victory would put policies in place that would undermine our system of governance and separation of powers. That cannot happen. So, I’m swallowing hard and voting for Harris. |
Wut? You clearly have MAGA brain rot. Also, it’s not just $100 airfare (and I think you’re being disingenuous about how much round trip airfare to the coast would cost from a small town with no major airport, but I digress). It’s also the lodging, in town transportation, and food. The logistics of needing to take off work (which could also be lost wages if you’re not salaried). There are also insurance factors. You may get some coverage if it is medically necessary, but not all insurance will cover you out of state. There is also just the emotional stress of not only needing to go through with a procedure that may be an emotional one (especially if terminating a wanted pregnancy for medical reasons) and now you cannot do it with the comfort of going home afterward. You may need/want to pay for a close companion to travel with you. Even if you don’t care about these reasons, it is disruptive to the economy to have people taking off work short notice for a medical procedure they should be able to have done closer to home. It’s bad policy all around. |
But it’s okay for a political candidate to dehumanize and insult people? |
Right, which explains why media outlets have failed left and right over the last 30 years as a result of the internet. It's not "the media" as in the traditional news media that's responsible. It's the advent of social media and its exploitation by people with sinister motives who wish to spread disinformation. If anything, paying closer attention the legacy media these days provides better balance and coverage of what's actually happening. I personally went back to watching the nightly news a couple of years ago and it was the best thing I ever did -- a 30-minute roundup of the most important news of the day. No panels telling me what to THINK about the news, no focus on unimportant things or fake outrages. Just the news. And, yes, there's plenty to be critical of -- news organizations have largely abandoned foreign bureaus, so the news does tend to be more narrowly defined in terms of global affairs. And yes, the news media does tend to get caught up in horse race narratives in politics. But this nothing that "the media" is some monolithic entity moving in lockstep to sow division is just absurd and unsupported by any real facts. Not to mention that "blame the messenger" is one of the laziest tropes out there. |
I am a woman. I am voting for Trump. I am pro choice. There are too many other issues on the Democratic side that are a dealbreaker to me. I don't like Trump but he is the better of the two choices. Just because someone votes Trump does not mean they are a horrible person. It is because certain issues matter more to time and they feel both choices are bad. |
I don't think a woman who wants body autonomy is considered "spoiled". Are you from Gilead? |
Yes, it unequivocally does. |
At least if you get divorced the judge will give the kids to him because he’s the sane one. |
Tell us again about the intolerant left…. |
If you are voting for Trump that says all we need to know about you: you find him acceptable |
