Do families really drive all the way to Bethany Beach for a one day trip?

I asked my husband if they're renting a place for the week, he said no, they went for literally one day and drove right back. That seems nuts. It's almost like they drove there just for a photo op? The social media photos made it appear they were a family there for the holiday week.

Did they say in the text/etc "having a great week at the beach!". If not, how could pictures of a beach visit tell you anything substantive about how long someone was there? We have some old pictures of a one day beach trip where we have 15 from that day for whatever reason, and a week-long trip years later we only have 5.

For one, what family drives that far for a day trip during a holiday week, and two, they were curated in a way to suggest it was a longer trip.

I think the daytrip isn’t the problem. Take a look in the mirror, OP.

A bus like this used to run to the beaches from the Bethesda YMCA.

Visiting the beach for a day is not new, OP. Not everyone wants to stay a week there. I find a few days in Rehoboth enough, but most houses require a week stay. The area is not that interesting to me to stay a week, but I do enjoy brief beach visits.

+1 My country club swim team used to run a bus like this a couple of times during every summer.

Yes, it’s pretty much a straight shot. We did all the Delaware beaches in one day trips.

We did it as kids b/c my parents couldn’t afford a hotel. Could be your family decided on a whim to do it, and there wasn’t any place decent available during peak season that wasn’t lots of $$$.
