Amherst Tour

And yet its yield rate is a meager 41 percent. Quite underwhelming for a school of its supposed stature.

It’s not a first choice destination or even a medium choice. It’s remote in a bad way, where there’s few options and a lack of wilderness like middlebury and williams

How awful! Maybe we should cancel our trip there in the fall, seems to have really fallen over time.

I cannot believe any reasonable person can read this post and believe it was written by a real person in good faith. Wow, just wow.

For us, this is the final straw. I was already weary after hearing many complaints from a friend's child about the school and now this..there are many colleges out there, and I can't trust Amherst from the deplorable things said by both alum and on here.

Weary/wary, what's the difference.

Honestly, with the syntax, not much?

Proximity to Amherst town is nice but agree with you Northampton way more appealing. for what it’s worth I was there last month when taking kid to visit UMass which is such an active and dynamic campus, so there’s certainly plenty of good energy in that area but Amherst is indeed a very small college campus.

Oh well. You do you. That's not going to stop 12,000+ kids from applying next year.

I much preferred Amherst to Williams physically. I also put Wesleyan and Bowdoin above Williams physically. I liked the vibe most at Wesleyan. A lot more was going on than at the other places.

If you are into public service, art or music, Wesleyan is probably number one. The campus is also beautiful. Can't say much for the Wesleyan dorms.

That’s surprising. We found the Williams campus lovely and the Amherst campus very undesirable- very few nice buildings other than the science center, which seemed strange for an lac

Everyone's different, right? My kid and I both fell in love with Amherst. Williams was too remote for my kid so he didn't apply. He liked Wesleyan and Swarthmore fine. Got into all SLAC but Amherst
