Girls 2029 club options MOCO

Depends on the club but usually you will have one weeknight practice and a Saturday morning (which obviously does not present the same traffic issues as a weeknight practice).

Do your HW where the top DMV HS girls played in MS, as MS is where the development happens, and you have your answer - no reason to travel to Balto or HoCo- the data does not lie.

The M&D brand is getting watered down. NL is a disaster for girls. Always has been. The PP must be a Capital employee lobbying so hard to keep kids local. Complete crap. If you live in MoCo, the really good MD clubs are just as easy to drive to as Capital practices in NoVa. The main advantage is getting your daughter in before HS as opposed to Capital which is only HS. Also the coaching in my opinion is better. Capital has very good recruiting. If NoVa, Cap is probably best fit. If MoCo, look at MD clubs a don’t buy into Capital paranoia.

Ex-BLC Hero’s dad is at it again. If the player lives in the highest parts of MoCo (Olney say), consider making the trek to MD. If mid or lower MoCo, it is far easier to join BLC which feeds to Capital. Capital splits practices between MoCo and Alexandria. BLC is doing something right on the coaching front bec both the 29s and 30s are top 20 teams. Do the math - a 25 minute drive to Alexandria half the time beats a 45 minute drive to Balto all the time.

Not the PP, but a Hero's parent. Hero's practices in Howard County. I've not heard of any team practicing outside the county. I can't 100% say for sure, but pretty damn sure you won't be practicing in Baltimore. Clearly Olney area is more convenient... That being said, put your kid in the best position to play good lacrosse for a good club. Sure it's nice to be in the pipeline at Hero's, M&D, or SkyWalkers pre high school, but if you can get onto Cap Blue, that's great too! I'm past the point of getting worked up by other clubs and who's better than who. Your daughter will thrive AND have a great opportunity to get recruited by all four of those clubs.

Everybody seems to be sleeping on Coppermine. They are doing the right things to build elite teams starting with the 2027's and younger. That's four quality clubs in the Baltimore area. DMV only has Capital. It will be interesting to see what new management can do to NL or whatever name it gets rebranded into.

Coppermine is just harder to get to from what I understand. M&D and Hero’s are further south. I don’t think the NL/M&D merger will be that impactful. The problem is there just is not the talent pool that the MD clubs have to draw from. Maybe that changes over time as girls lacrosse grows in popularity but I don’t know. Some very good players in DMV just not as many.

Practice location for Coppermine Central and M&D are not far from each other. Does anybody know where Skywalkers practice?

Mainly St Pauls

It is also important to recognize the makeup of the players on these teams and, when it is time for recruiting, what players are going to be best positioned for what spots at schools. The top 1-3 players on any of these rosters are the best of the best, and will have multiple offers, after that who is really being taken care? At M&D, Heros, and SW it is the girls from the high schools in that region. The 24 Good Counsel/SW and M&D/Visi player do not count b/c they are the top in the country. A family friend said Capital historically favors the VA girls first, starting with SSSA, b/c KJ still wants her players to get the coveted spot on a roster (again the top 1-3 players don't fall into this category.) But the further, u go down the depth chart, Capital will push a SSSA first then other VA players, followed by a MoCo private/public. Again, there are variables that counter this argument, but generally speaking, the data is there. I admit I have too much time on my hands, so I did more research. I looked at 25 Heros; the 2 local girls are on White, 1 not committed to the other Harvard but would have gotten there from any club. BLC alignment with Capital is not a sure thing, and in recent years the successful local girls do not seem to have played BLC after 6th grade. Like many, I was jaded by all of the negative comments about MCE so never looked there for our DD, but I finally did my HW and just signed up for tryouts. The 27s and 26s are solid teams with players who are doing great in HS, and MCE does seem to have good recruiting when there r players who want to play in college. Their outcome data looks great. I hope my daughter makes MCE.

lol, taking advice from someone propping up MC Elite. Comical. If your kid is on a top team they will get seen and recruited. MCE is not a top team or club

Agreed. You lost me at the part about MCE.

Will someone please save that poor girl from her father.

I have never seen a post about somebody hoping their DD makes MCE. Somewhere in your research, you took a wrong turn.

Seems posts are being taken down again about MCE. That speaks volumes.

As a non SSAS family who’s been through the Capital recruiting experience I can say from first hand experience that this account is complete BS.

If the player is at SSAS and on Capital, KJ typically handles recruiting.

For the many other players from other schools on Capital, the club’s recruiting director handles it, and she is more plugged in with D1 coaches than you can possibly imagine. She can (and does) get any coach in the country to the sidelines of games when the recruiting season is on.

We never sensed or experienced any competition whatsoever between the efforts of KJ recruiting for SSAS players v Capital recruiting for non SSAS players.

Current MCE family- 2029. If your daughter wants to play and grow then stay away. If your daughter doesn’t care and just wants to have fun or play with other girls that hardly show up, then MCE is for you!

Stupid question... what does SSAS stand for?

Official. NL girls sold to 3step. M&D DC is new brand
Anonymous
Which really makes zero difference. Same coaches, same players, same parents, same teams playing in NGLL B divisions except for 2029s. M&D brand has hardly transformed other purchases.

Time will tell. Having competent hs program will help, and there’s plenty of talent around here.

M&D Orlando had 6 D1 commits in 2024 class. Top 60 team. Nothing special but they’ve made progress.
