Do Your Teenage Boys Still Wear Pajamas?

Can you buy pajama pants without tops? My DS like the pants to lounge in but wears these with t-shirts never pajama tops.

Well my DS (14) was quite forward about it. He just at some point said I don't need pajamas anymore and I asked what he wanted to sleep in instead and he just said nothing, I don't like to wear anything when I sleep and that was kind of it.

Yes! Isn't it nuts? Lots of boys in the past couple of years have been wearing pajama bottoms to high school. Mainly plaid bottoms.

Same. Mine started wearing just boxers as a tween, and as an older teen it's his bday suit.

Same with my two sons (14 and 16). They wore pajamas when they were little and then slept in boxers as they got older and then transitioned to sleeping in the nude around the time they started puberty.

Same with my sons (15 and 17). Properly a common trajectory.

It is indeed very common. Children are put to bed wearing clothing to keep them warm and dry, because that’s what they need at ann early age. In the tween years, many observe parents’ habits or realize for themselves that less is more comfortable, so they start sleeping in just a top and underwear, then just underwear, and at some point come to the realization that “I’ve gone this far, might as well get rid of the last little bit and be totally free”. I think it’s just a natural (no pun intended) inclination. The vast majority of humanity slept in the nude all through history up until the 1800s when textiles became quicker to make and easier to afford.

I am glad I found this thread. I am a single mother of a DS (13) and I recently found out, that he has been sleeping in the nude lately. I know it's properly silly but I was a little taken aback by this but reading the comments here, I guess it's not that big of a deal and not uncommon for teen boys to do so.

My teens wear their Christmas PJ pants all year long, to every location that doesn't have a uniform or dress code, except bed. They take them off for bed.

They are in a school with a dress code, but I am confident that if they weren't they'd be sitting in class with Santa on their tush in May.

My 13 YO started sleeping naked about a year ago. Switched from boxer briefs to nudity.
