+1 I found it interesting, thanks. |

We had a really great experience with swim team.
I have an 8 year old daughter that, as of 3 months ago, didn't know how to swim at all. She joined our neighborhood pool's pre-team (which consisted of mostly 5-7 year olds), and after daily practice, she got to the point where she could do a 25m freestyle with good form in 30 secs. Being around other kids and with encouraging coaches put my child in a position to push her limits and do things that she didn't think she was capable of. if you and your spouse are flexible enough to put in the time, i highly highly recommend joining. |
This isn’t about “newbies” - this is about 90 percent of swim parents in summer leagues. The difference between all star qualifying times and actually going to individual all stars is irrelevant to ALMOST ALL families on summer swim teams. My kids have swam for five years and only this year did I learn the distinction and it’s STILL not important to me. I had to explain it to multiple seasoned swim parents who, like me, have never had any kids close to making an all star time, which is how they are commonly referred to, but technically should be “all star nominating” time for the next pedants out there. Sheesh, no wonder people are intimidated by joining a team if they are full people like you. Perhaps you should understand how the language is actually used. |
| I guess back in the days before sites also pulled this data you’d be able to get an idea of your times and see if you were “ranked” aka got an all star nominating time. Now with reachforthewall and swimstandards you can just dive on the data yourself. |
Weird, when I go to http://www.mcsl.org/ then click 'Meet Results'. I pick 'Week 1 Results'. Scores are listed. Then I click on one of the teams (Flower Valley is first so lets click that). I mean, I'm no expert, but that sure looks like meet results that aren't in a PDF... |
Wow. Look again. Perhaps you should develop a little familiarity with the web? Yes the scores are in html, but the results with names and seed times are in a pdf. In the exact place you just described!!!! Sure it’s a pdf that is embedded in a web page but it’s still a pdf. Shaking my head in disbelief here. Idiot. |
It's literally not a PDF. It's HTML. Do you even know the difference? It is NOT an embedded PDF. It's HTML in a frame. Try viewing the frame source. It's an HTML table. To repeat one more time for you. It is not PDF! You couldn't be more wrong. Idiot. |
Do you call your kid names every time they don't get a time you are happy with? We all know the parents like you who are uber competitive and bullies. |
Do you call your kid names every time they don't get a time you are happy with? We all know the parents like you who are uber competitive and bullies. LOL. Did you notice the other poster started the name calling? And keeps insisting on something they are clearly wrong about. |
