Completely unnecessary nudity scenes IMO. And I am not a prude or conservative.

I disagree. The nudity was part of the communism ethos.

Have you ever seen the famous "Swimwear!" commercial?"

Kind of interesting but mostly boring, the sex scenes were ok but not enough to save it, I started falling asleep around 2/3 in so had to get up and leave.

LOL. Too funny.

I thought it was powerful film but I do agree that it was difficult to follow at times. When there's a dozen middle aged white guy scientist characters, it's too hard to keep track of who is who, and what they are doing and why. Definitely could have been streamlined.

There are many avenues to think about after seeing the movie. I became curious about Klaus Fuchs for example and looked him up (wondering whatever happened). I think the movie does a good job of showing Oppenheimer's frustration and his loyalty to the scientists (and their loyalty to him) despite his flawed character. Scientists are not easy people to manage.

I thought they did a good job of showing the prevailing thought of the left at the time — that those concerned about Russian spies were just being paranoid — and then pointing out that there *were* actually spies in the program. It’s even more nuanced when you know that the intelligence agencies had intercepts implicating Fuchs, and the Rosenbergs, etc, but couldn’t use the info publicly because didn’t want to tip off the Soviets. Then the later excesses of McCarthy drove people into even more hardened positions.

It’s interesting that, in the end, they sort of gave Teller the final word — basically, “he’s a loyal American, but erratic and problematic in other ways.”

Did you do any reading on it before you watched it? This movie is best if you read one or two articles as primer. The small effort is rewarded.

Huh?
"Barbie is not the only film that people are buying tickets and showing up for, of course. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer also did impressive business, with $46.2 million in its second weekend (just a 44% drop) to bring its 10-day total to over $174 million. That is more than Indiana Jones, Transformers, Fast X, and Mission: Impossible have grossed this summer. Indy and (maybe) Ethan Hunt will get over that with their final grosses, but they will be nowhere near Oppenheimer’s total, which is eyeing a $325+ million haul."

I liked it well enough. Was it the greatest movie of all times, no. Was it a fairly interesting story, yes.

How was the soundtrack?

Is it essential to see it on the big screen? I was going to see it IMAX, but I’m concerned with the summer covid surge because I’m high risk as are the people I work with.

I found a lot of the background music annoying and seemed more appropriate for a Batman movie

I think movies always have more impact on big screen but this is a talkie for sure and would be fine at home-
You could actually pause and look up stuff and people.
