I'm also Canadian and I'm not above calling OP a hoser. |
Canadians do pay for their healthcare. That's what all the taxes are for. |
| The fires are so big it seems they can only be contained and it’s a waiting game until they burn out. Unless property or lives are damaged, it may not make sense to try to extinguish. It is sort of remarkable they let so many fires get so big. The hope they will go out in the near term may be just that, *hope*. I wonder if they’ve contemplated what happens if they have a dry, warm fall and a dry winter… |
I don't think you realize how large and wild Canada is pp. It takes weeks or months to get swamp fires contained in NC, where they are actively working on it. And where there are roads. Not sure what you want Canadians to do about the absolute wilderness. If anyone could force mother nature to rain, I'm sure they would have tried it by now. Climate change is getting ahead of our technology now, and affecting normally cool areas. |

It smells like burning wood outside.
Disturbingly- a faint scent of burning plastic is detectable, as well. Last night , we were going for a walk, and the air outside was noticeably hazy. We could see haze hanging in the air. We went inside. This doesn’t seem right. Particulate matter carried in the air can do so much damage to our bodies, more than just our lungs. |
Interesting how climate systems work. I'm in Toronto and don't see or smell anything. |
I am! And I call dibs on their strippers. The best! |
Strippers are great but why do we want a new state that’s on fire? |
| Too bad we don’t have Trump anymore, otherwise we build a wall to block all the smoke and pay for it with tariffs on maple syrup. |
That reminds me that the Canadians may not have been raking their forests enough. |
They're going to wait for winter to end the fire season? Seems kind of laissez-faire, eh? |
There is a way to make it rain-cloud seeding. Northern areas are more at risk for rapid climate change. When ice/snow melts, the ground is no longer reflecting sun, the ground is darker and absorbs more radiation. |
| I am capitalizing the C. Done. |
| I wish they would do something about this. My littles have trouble breathing this horrible air |
Lol |
