We’re driving 5 hours; ILs asked us to bring food

Is it too late to cancel the trip?

I would use the same line I use with my children: This is what's on the menu tonight for dinner, but you don't need to eat it. Thanks, Kids Eat in Color!

People know that coolers exist and work. OP can’t cook and bring multiple days worth of food for ten people. She’s not a caterer and that would be many coolers.

In-laws are being demanding and ridiculous. Thread number 1,999,999 on this this topic on DCUM. Learn from these ILs and don't do it to your own kids when they're married.

Why can’t you cook at their house? I don’t get it. When we visit my parents, we do help out by grocery shopping and cooking. My parents eat low-salt and low-fat, so take-out and prepared foods don’t work if there’s a home-cooked alternative.

Nobody wants to spend a visit cooking 3 meals a day for 10 people. That isn't fair to OP or anyone. That's so much work!

It is unreasonable for them to expect you to feed everyone on this trip.

The best way to do beach week is sign up for "your night" - every couple has to do a night. Then you also have dinner out night (or take out) grill night, and leftovers night. Also pizza night is an option.

This fairly spreads costs and effort. For lunch, bread and cold cuts. Breakfast, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, easy stuff, no cooking required. We adult couples with kids would also divide up kid meal duties and kid mornings so the other parents could have turns sleeping in.

Your in laws are totally unreasonable to try to put this all on you guys.
