first birthday announcements - not party invites - wording?

Anonymous
why are people giving out their opinion on this matter? she asked about wording NOT whether or not she should send the cards out! sheesh!
Besides, people send pictures of their kids at all ages to close relatives (school picture day being why parents dish out $ to get them done)....whats the difference?

OP's kid is old enough to have her own kids at this point

Why? People will interpret that as a solicitation if a gift. Just post it in insta.

This thread is amazing. 12 years of people randomly googling 1 year bday announcements and adding their 2 cents here!

I'd like an update on this teenager's life.

Y'all are stupid. Who cares if she wants an announcement and not invitation?????? Just answer the damn question

Any sort of announcement is essentially a request for a gift. How tacky.

Can anyone make a suggestion?

BettySue is turning 1!

BettySue will be 1 this October.

Ugh, I'm not inspired.

You're still asking for a gift.

Send them an invite even if they are out of town. Invites are not summons and people aren't going to bend over backwards or really go. And you might be surprised who actually shows up.

I just noticed the date!

OP's kid will have a driver's license soon.

I don't know if OP still reads this 14 years later, but I actual came across this post cause I was googling the same thing. I want to do a 4th Birthday Announcement. We aren't having a party, but I have a lot of out of town relatives that rarely get to see my child. I want to do a cute photo shoot and put something along the lines of "4 years flew by" with airplanes. I don't post anything personal about myself or child on social media, so it would be like a cute Announcement card like hey were alive and thriving. Thanks for loving us.

You’re the stupid one. OPs kids have kids of their own now.

What are you searching for that even pulled up this thread?

We aren't allowing outsiders to her bday party due to RSV season and instead we are sending out an update with her first cake smash picture to our relatives. I don't think it's weird to want to share info about your child with your family out of town and I don't see why people are being so mean about it. We plan on telling everyone about her accomplishments and current weight etc. I want to celebrate my child's life and her success and can't do that like a typical mom can because of the risks involved for my child so this is the best way we could think of. And in lieu of gifts we are asking for donations to march of dimes so people don't think we are "trying to get gifts". This is such a mean group.

Accomplishments? Success? You’re talking about a one year old. Some mothers are just too extra.
