Lots of “dead” zones. Lulus was of the only stops on a pub crawl between DuPont and Georgetown. |

Brickskeller was on P street in Dupont (but also a great memory! I love this thread but now feeling so wistful...) |

Oh right. I didn’t have a DT budget when I was hitting AM. ![]() |
Dammit I hate/love threads like this. |
So much fun, young and carefree, club and bar hopping on a Friday/Saturday night. There were so many different venues, and real estate prices weren't through the roof which helped. On just about every corner in all parts of the downtown area, there was something to do and it didn't cost a fortune. One could drink all night for $20. And then stumble home to a group house in Dupont or U street. It was a blast. |
Thrift shopping at secondi in DuPont. Lunch from the well dressed burrito. Going to happy hour at Madhatter and coming out thinking it was so late but it was still daylight. Hitting up Ozio after for hookah. Underground bars like rocket bar. Can’t believe no one has mentioned the SMOKING in bars.

Right. But it all seems like the same time person to me. 9-11 was 2001 and the sniper was 2002. We moved here 2000. OP was asking how we remember it and I associate all of that together. |

It was very hot. I taught enrichment classes for highly gifted, very affluent kids. One day, a mom bought the entire camp Jamba Juices. It had to cost a couple thousand bucks. |
My memory is blurry...might be confusing the early 90's with the 00's...

It does. I did the same with the Princess Diana/JFK JR summer deaths. I combine them into the same summer in my mind. |
