Listen, all of MCPS high schools have to be considered ‘city.’ We are now Paris. The poor live largely in the burbs. |
You sound completely unhinged and angry. I'm not tracking the private school admits because my kids don't attend those schools. What I do track is JR and I think it serves no one to not be transparent about who is actually getting into top schools from JR. But go ahead and rant about the privates. |
NP, this is a weird response. I think the PP calling someone obsessed who admitted to stalking youtube and IG of college admissions is a pretty apt descriptor. |
I thought for next year students will have a choice of JR or MacArthur. Given the concerns with the general logistics a new school, limited sports, and transportation concerns, I would be surprised if all 200 students picked MacArthur over Hardy. |
ooops.. MacArthur over JR I meant. |
I'm not the you tube watcher. I'm not sure what one would even watch on you tube with regards to JR. I simply know the kids. |
There is another thread in this forum suggesting that most kids from Hardy are opting for JR. |
Safe to say your kid was rejected by a top 10 and you are bitter about it? Why else would you so closely track all this. |
Nope. Current 10th grader, rising 9th grader who is considering Walls (if admitted) or JR. |
My kid graduated in the 21st percent in class rank. 1400 SAT. Graduated with 10 APs, 4s and 5s on the exams. Accepted to a top LAC ranked between 20 and 30 in most rankings. Currently has a 3.9 GPA in a non STEM major. He’s gotten enthusiastic, extremely positive feedback on his writing from multiple professors. Honestly, he expected college to be harder after hearing from so many people how terrible they though JR was. YMMV. |
| *Accepted to a LAC ranked. “Top” is a type-o. |
Talk about a strawman. Someone claimed that JR kids don’t get into top schools and that the few who do are crew recruits. A number of us are saying that this is demonstrably untrue. Now you’re saying, “no no, I’m not saying they don’t get in; I’m saying they don’t get in MORE because they’re from JR.” OK? This has ceased to have a point. JR kids get into top schools for lots of reasons: some are athletes, some are legacies, some have no “hooks” and just get in. Just like at other schools. |
There is a crew recruit to Cornell and also a football recruit |
Lots of people check out College IG for different schools. Why wouldn’t you if you have a high school junior or senior? |
|
My kid graduated from JR two years ago.
The only kids getting into top 10 schools were kids ranked in the top 10 at JR. Even some of these kids were rejected. Also many of them were legacy or had some hook. |
