+109. Anxious their DC won't get in and trying to decrease the odds by scaring others off of applying.

As a Sidwell parent - I find this to be the most ridiculous argument each year. There are valid issues at every school and many of the ones listed about Sidwell are true. People aren't just coming on DCUM to dissuade others. Give me a break.

OMG. We run off one SFS troll, but another comes to grind the axe.

It’s a fabulous school. And it is not for a random parent, I’ve generally found it’s their own fault

There's no axe. I think this claim that people come on to scare off others is nonsense.

It's also nonsense if you think that any school is perfect and that every complaint on these boards against a school (whether it be Sidwell, GDS, Maret, NCS, STA, Potomac, Bullis, SAES etc) is bogus. From being an SFS parent - I will say there is validity to complaints about the school. I 'm sure there's validity in the other schools too.

And people like you who claim that anybody with a negative opinion is at fault themselves are ridiculous.

No? There are a very few parents who whine about the admin. Both of them are on here every year. they wax lyrical about their imagined slights and shortcomings. It’s a total meh-meh-meh. Nobody cares. SFS is at the top for a reason. Come or don’t come, the wait list is huge, but for your own sake if you do come don’t be that perennially 😫 we all laugh at and don’t invite anywhere. It’s counterproductive and self-degrading. If you stop being such a loser you might enjoy yourself

Is this how the kids operate at Sidwell, too? Don’t make waves. Don’t speak up and maybe we’ll invite you to the cool kid parties. If you do, we’ll laugh at you at lunch. And don’t forget, you’re replaceable; no one really cares whether you’re here or not.

Nice.

Quite the opposite actually. Part of the goal of the upper school is getting kids to self-advocate and take responsibility for themselves. So the kids "making waves" is great. The parents making waves, not so much. The administration makes this clear from the get go. It is just that a few parents every year seem to miss the memo.

Every year I hope one of the self-appointed (literally without a cause, given just how coddled they and their progeny are) would have a little humor or hold interest, but they always so predictably humdrum living out some slights from their backgrounds. Often times it’s so sad because it starts with botching and cruelty towards the teachers they perceive as weak. It’s so gross. Thank goodness for dcum- it keeps them out of my eardrums. Just had to take one for coffee and listen to the whining

Yet here you are letting them take up this much time in your holiday weekend. Are you texting all your friends about how to stare right through them at the next parent event? Are you teaching your kids how to pretend to care about the teachers while making sure they don’t get any support from the admin you suck up to?

I know! Wouldn’t it be great if the mean parents could he nice just once? Bet their kids would be surprised.

Huh, for real? 😧 just logged on. How about you?

Writing while I treadmill, what about you? Puking on Sidwell while rose all day?

My 2c. Sidwell is very good and really really hard to get into. If you get an offer, take it. You won’t regret it.

On a rare off-chance you regret it, your kid won’t, and you’re already on here so you can bond with the other two losery losers

Win win

I hated it and refused to send my kids there

You clearly don't get out of your bubble much. Or maybe you're so insufferable, nobody with anything real to say wants to speak with you. Oy.

And here’s the other one!

These threads are so predictable. During COVID they were being started once a week. Finally, when the frequent flier OP’s family graduated they stopped for a while. Prospective families beware that you aren’t getting the real deal: you’re getting IMHO a bunch of trolls and a couple of - would be unhappy and feel slighted anywhere - parents, maybe.

If your child gets an offer, congratulations. They must be outstanding in some way, given the stats. Think twice about not taking it based upon some malcontents shutposting. Once you matriculate you’ll find a wonderful school and community IMHO
