I'm pretty sure this woman had the same attitude as many of you are describing, minimal risk, no big deal.
She probably thought, What's the likelihood something will happen? And if it does, we'll be back there in minutes! Well, she found out. I hope none of you find out the hard way. While the kids are ok in this situation, how lovely to be under arrest while dealing with the tragic death of your husband right in front of you. |

There’s a link in the OP. |
You are argue that leaving your child alone is not inherently dangerous, but these parents were absolutely reckless and endangered their children. Who, let's not forget, are 2 years old and 5 MONTHS old. Also, it is not only that they left the children alone...it is (1) that they choose to do so for a SOCIAL outing (not a need or emergency) and (2) that they clearly had the means to easily remedy the issue (hire a babysitter, have family help, etc.) but they CHOSE not to. I feel bad that she lost her husband so tragically, but they were right to be charged. |

All of the piling on is unnecessary. Not to mention hypocritical. Even if you would never or have never done what she did, I'm sure you have done SOMETHING that you're not proud of, or that could have endangered your kid but with a little luck did not.
You people are gross. |
These are not struggling single parents, they don't get a pass for a non-essential evening out when they can surely afford a babysitter or nanny. I did not leave my child in my apartment alone to go to the laundry room in the same building and even that was often a struggle. |
Not intentionally we didn't. |
| Yale doesn’t teach you to get a nanny? |
Absolutely not!! My kid’s safety is always my priority, two supposedly intelligent people neglected their kids, SMH. |
Wrong. It is necessary and the evidence is all the people who also think what these people did is no big deal and who are saying they would pretty much do the same thing. Those people need to know the reasons they shouldn't do it, how others view this, and hopefully learn something and possibly a child's safety will not be so cavalierly put at risk as a result. |

No, sorry there is such a thing as intentional child endangerment. I've never done it, and never would. End of story. |
She went to Penn State. He went to Dartmouth and Columbia Journalism. What the heck does Yale have to do with anything? |
Not PP but they were staying at the Yale Club. |
