| I'd like to know this too and how big is the wait pool? I heard some of the regional DCC magnets have a 60 percent acceptance rate or higher. Is this one of them? |
I don’t know the answer to this question. Other than that it is a competitive, excellent program. I don’t get though why people have to put other programs down. This is high school. There is a long way to go. I have had kids that have gone through many magnets. Some of the best ones may also promote some stifling group think. |
| Also very interested to know about likelihood of moving from CAP wait pool. DD got RMIB but REALLY wants CAP. |
| From the open house the impression I have is that they overadmit by a lot expecting a certain yield, but I don't know by how much and haven't heard whether they are receiving more or less declines than expected. From DD's friends I only know those attending and a couple on the fence and trying to decide between other programs. |
So at the open house they didn’t tell you how many places, how many applicants and how many offers? |
| NP. I didn't hear that. |
100 places. But no, they didn’t announce how many applicants or offers. I had an older child go through cap as well in the past and they didn’t announce any of this at that time, either. |
| They didn't put that on the waitlist letter? My child is on the WL for two different programs and they had the applicant number. |
This must be lottery programs. CAP is selective. It has a wait pool not a waitlist. |
| No, this was wait pool for RMIB and Poolesville Global. Sorry I used the wrong wording. I guess it's a wait pool. |
Right and wait pools aren’t numbered. You only get a number for the lottery programs. For application “criteria” programs you are in a wait pool that is not ranked. |
|
The wait pool letters (but not the invite letters) for some criteria-based magnets listed the number of applicants for this year. Did the CAP waitlist letters list the number of applicants?
|
| CAP waitpool letters for those who are sticklers. |
No |
| Do Blair CAP kids also take comp science classes? DC is interested in humanities and comp science. |
