They said they were dropping him. Kanye made the link to his recent comments, but there is no date given on the letter.
More likely they dropped him because he said bad things about Chase previously, and said he was going to drop them.

Kanye West is not necessarily known in the industry for his raps as brilliant. Those in the music industry deem him as brilliant because he is a stellar music producer. Before his first album ever came out he was producing and creating beats. While there is so much outrage over him the music industry will never disown him.
