Will I regret never going to Disney?

And here we have it! Another nasty post.

Disney is a cesspool of humanity. Count your blessings that you have not been - you have won the lottery.

Another nasty post! Maybe I should start keeping count.

We live in Florida and it's an easy drive for us, and go once a year in January because we have young kids and enjoy seeing their happiness when we go there but I agree with the poster above. Disney is super weird to go frequently, especially if you live out of state. To go without kids and enjoy Disney is SO weird. Go on real vacations, see real things, spend money elsewhere.

OP asked for opinions. It isn’t nasty to dislike Disney, just because you like it. OP didn’t ask for only positive impressions of the place.

There’s a difference between opinions and saying it’s a cesspool of humanity.

We do Disney and see “real things.” It’s not mutually exclusive.

It’s been a minute since we had the endless Disney lover/hater debate. Nobody here will ever be ok with people liking different trips than they do. We have to endlessly tear each other down. See y’all in another few weeks for the exact same thread.

We went once and it was pretty much a cesspool. I have never seen so many mullets and obese people in skimpy clothing anywhere in my life, and I grew up going to State Fairs so that’s saying something. So you can look past that…good for you. It impairs my joy to see trashy people yelling at their kids all day.

You’re incredibly judgmental.

If you can afford it I think it's worth going once so the kids know the deal. Like it or not, it is part of American culture, not the only part, but a part. Go with a good attitude to have fun and experience the magic. Plan ahead because it's logistically complicated and not fun if you don't plan. Embrace the Americiana and cheesy aspects. It's all good fun. If you want culture, plan your next vacation to someplace serious to make up for it.

OP, if your kid isn't really into Disney I don't think you'd regret not going. But if they are into Star Wars/Marvel you may want to consider a few days hitting up Hollywood Studios and Epcot. You don't have to do a whole trip that's just Disney, you could also do a day or two at Universal for Harry Potter, go to the Kennedy Space Center if you haven't, visit Cocoa Beach or another beach (I like Vero), etc. A trip based out of central florida, esp at a time of year where the warm weather is a nice break at a colder time of year.

I've been quite a bit as I lived in FL for a while and one of my family members works for Disney (so free/cheap tickets). I feel badly for the families that are stressed about their trips- it is a "once in a childhood" thing for a lot of people and they want to see/do everything and "get their money's worth) but it's hot and can be a lot of standing and waiting for kids.

“Culture” includes the parts you like and the parts you don’t. Disney is culture. Paris is culture.

Anonymous wrote:OP, you are not missing out on anything. It’s an overpriced theme park that doesn’t offer much beyond hours in line, heat, terrible crowds, and subpar rides. Food is awful and I will never understand the hype. If you are not a fan of theme parks, there is zero draw or reason to be there. Save your money for places that really matter to you.

This is a person who didn’t plan.

Op you should go, but, you need to research and plan it, makes the experience much better.

Not to derail, but what are the best sites to help outline a plan? There are literally 1000s of Disney hacks and tips sites, and I get so overwhelmed trying to figure it out. My kids are 7 and 4, so hoping to go within the next year.
