Americans flags

Go back to your basement and hide.

This is the craziest thread I've ever seen. Everyone sounds like toddlers fighting over a toy - "MINE!" "No, MINE!" The flag is the flag of the country we all live in and people displaying it all have their own reasons for doing so. You can't predict they're MAGA lovers or Biden supporters just by one flag, and you can't own the libs by flying the flag.

I do think there is a more interesting conversation to be had about what people mean when they say they love or hate "America" - do you mean the government, the history, the people, the ideals? If you say liberals "hate" America, what does that mean to you?

Like it or not, we all live here under that same flag.

Next to your MAGA flag?

My MAGA flag flies below the US flag and POW-MIA flag. Because I understand flag protocols from 21 years of service. Unlike you.

Your service counts for nothing when you disgrace yourself as a traitor to our country. It just makes your actions all the worse.

“my actions”?

What are these actions you speak of? My CIB? My deployments? My Purple Heart with oak leaf? My Bronze Star with V device? Those actions? So all that counts for nothing, huh?

The sad part is your own arrogance prevents you from appreciating how incredibly disgusting you sound.

+1. And to PP, thank you for your service.

Yep. We have nuts who speak of "spitting" on veterans because of their political stance. And, other nuts who "+1000000" the sentiment.
Disgusting. And, you wonder why veterans and service members overwhelmingly vote Republican. It isn't a mystery.

Screw that. His “service” was performed under the banner of the confederate battle flag. Pure trash.

Wow.

Being a soldier doesn’t get you a free pass to being a racist insurrectionist without being called out for it. At least to those of us who can think logically.

I challenge you to read this. These are the actual documents of a number of Southern states setting forth their reasons for secession. Go to the source. Not some fiction you learned in your history classes in high school. Read the actual documents. Then come back and tell me you are proud of what that flag stands for. https://www.battlefields.org/learn/primary-sources/declaration-causes-seceding-states

Gotta love this quote from Mississippi’s secession declaration:

Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization. That blow has been long aimed at the institution, and was at the point of reaching its consummation. There was no choice left us but submission to the mandates of abolition, or a dissolution of the Union, whose principles had been subverted to work out our ruin. That we do not overstate the dangers to our institution, a reference to a few facts will sufficiently prove.

Whatcha got to say to that, Johnny Reb?

Our beautiful southern flag honors our valor on the field, courtly virtues and independence. Doesn’t have a damn thing to do with slavery, which was a horrific institution for which it seems we all keep paying the price.

The Confederate flag was LITERALLY the flag of the Confederate Army, which was fighting a war of secession against the United States so that they could keep the institution of slavery. The "independence" you refer to is the "independence" to keep owning slaves. And as far as "courtly values" go, you've obviously watched Gone With the Wind too many times and think it is fact not fiction. The Confederate flag is inextricably linked to the fight to maintain slavery, and any attempts to decouple the two take a certain kind of delusional mindset that normal people can't even wrap their minds around.

Not because of their "political stance." Because of their support of a treasonous President and his administration and followers, and because of their support of a racist, white supremacist flag. If you support MAGA, you are in bed with white Supremacists and literal Nazis, and if you wear the uniform of this country and supports Nazis, those of us whose grandparents fought to defeat Naziism sure as heck are going to call you out as the disgrace you are. You don't get a pass just because you are a veteran. If anything, you have a higher moral obligation because you swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, which MAGA is intent on shredding.

Had no idea liberals hated military and veterans.
