When everyone tells you your forever favorite name is dated.

Boomers are weird about names. I named my first Martin and FIL scoffed and said "we were hoping for a classic name like Liam." They never used his name for the first year of his life, just called him the baby.

My mom (a boomer) and I (xennial) called my cousin Molly “the baby” for quite a while because we truly disliked her name

Ew I'm withdrawing your Xennial card. We don't do that kind of ick

Look, I just truly dislike the name. And I was probably 10

I still dislike the name. Always have, always will

I like Heather.

Hadley means “field of Heather.”

Oh how I've missed Heather! It's a great name...why hasn't it been more popular these past 20 years?

Heather sounds fine to me. Who cares what people think?

I love the name Heather! It’s ready for a comeback.

We’re talking about Heather, not Crystal.

+1 I already know girls named Lauren, Sarah, Rachel. Classic names and I think Heather is lovely, not dated.

Anonymous wrote:I like Heather. There was a poster here in the past few years with a little Heather. Hopefully she will see this and weigh in! I also like Susan FWIW and think Susie sounds fresh and cute.

Imagine a conversation about the name "Sophia" circa mid-1990s. "Dated sounding Italian grandma name", "Golden Girls", etc. Yet by 2012 it was the #1 girls name and now everyone is all "not another Sophie or Sophia, please". Name trends come and go, so choose what you like.

I have a Susanna (named for my mom Susan) and we call her "Sus"

I think Susan will definitely come back but more in the Susanna version since names that end in -a are more popular now.

My DD has a name that peaked for 70s babies -- Erin. She loves her name and is really glad we didn't pick some of the other options we told her we had considered. I think there's only one other Erin in all of her high school.

Use the name you like!

I don’t even mind Crystal. My sorority big sister is named Crystal and she’s a doctor

My daughter has a name that’s considered dated (along the lines of Nancy) and she loves it.

Don't listen to what anyone says. Let your freak flag fly!
