Taylor Elem — Reading specialist change petition

Anonymous
Let's focus on the real issue which is that the behavior of the Principal and the Assistant Principal has been affecting the school, students, and community at large. These two individuals have contributed to a hostile work environment, which has in turn affected a very successful elementary school. The silence from APS regarding this matter is deafening, despite the fact that the issue has gotten news coverage, there has been a letter from the teachers, and a petition with over 1,000 signatures. Teachers, parents and children feel that they have no recourse for their grievances because APS refuses to deal with the matter in a transparent and open way with everyone who has been harmed by Taylor's administration. The whole situation is bigger than just Dr. Gaston's recent departure. APS needs to wake up and take some accountability for their personnel decisions before they destroy a wonderful school community.

I’m at teacher at another school and just want to post kudos to the brave teachers who were willing to sign that letter. That took huge courage to stand up to a clearly toxic principal.

4 CLT’s per week?! Where is AEA in all of this? Don’t teachers have protected individual planning time?

1 CLT per week is what Taylor teachers have… be careful with what you read

This was a public letter signed by multiple teachers? Why would they lie if it could be disproved?

Why would they lie when most of it can be disproven, but unfortunately the other side is not permitted to stand up for their school.

PLEASE keep in mind there are 2 sides and the truth.

This situation is so sad. Dr Gaston is a true gem. I worked at Taylor for a year, in a totally unrelated area, and she made me feel at home. She truly goes above and beyond. I hear from former coworkers that the place is just a mess. It's sad because Pellegreen was a straight shooter and made it a great place to work at.

I just hope all the school board comments this week aren't flooded with this topic.

It is likely what they truly believe. Teachers are also in a position where they have APS by the balls b/c we desperately need them!

I'm sure the principal means well, and I would love to here hear side, other than "teachers are making stuff up"

Public comments were disabled & everyone was muted, so no.

Someone from APS HQ was on to reiterate that they can't comment on personnel issues.
