Did you just time travel here from the 1940s? Do you understand the internet. |
I actually I wrote that and I have a son that plays baseball in college - but I wouldn’t expect him to find a job because he is a baseball player. He’s good, but it good enough to get paid to play. But, I hope he gets a job in education as that is his major.. |
??? |
Do they have varsity and junior varsity in college? |
I guess the answer is no, I don't understand the internet. |
| Please expose your wisdom and teach me! You seem very knowledgeable and worldly… did you play handball in college? |
|
Wow you folks really need to get a new hobby or get some therapy. Some people are just talented in many things like sports and academics.
Don’t worry though, they have had great experiences while taking slots at schools you or your kids got rejected from. |
Agreed. In reality, you don’t need either to be successful in business…I would own my own plumbing business if I could do it all over again…pocket the savings (as no athletic scholarships at ivies)…or do a better job working my drama club connections |
Maybe in the imagination of a 55 year old. This is the LAST thing a bunch of very hormonal young people think when they are together for the first time without any parent supervision. My DC1 is also an athlete and I worry sometimes because the girls are SO aggressive now, in the age of Instagram and TikTok. And no, they don't ask for his SAT score before making a move. They only care about how hot one is. |
This is going to make the angry anti-athlete teens who are posting unhappy. |
| And the misogynistic, elitist, engineer moms (and dads)! |
Engineering degree poster was calling out the anti-athlete misogynist poster. Not the same side. |

I know several former D1 athletes that are in their late 40's, early 50's that went to top colleges. Here is what they are doing.
1. Lawyer. I assume big $$ because his primary home is worth a couple of million and he has a second home that the family uses regularly. Members of an expensive country club. Played D1 soccer at a state high academic college (think UVA, UNC, Michigan, etc.) 2. Lawyer. I'm not as familiar with his lifestyle, but DW is a stay at home mom and they live in an expensive neighborhood in McLean. Played D1 baseball at the same college as #1. 3. Top executive at a head hunter firm. Another very high earner like #1. Primary home bought for a couple of million. Members of same expensive country club. Vacation home on Eastern Shore. Stay at home DW. I know his parents and they are solidly middle class. D1 swimmer at a good, but not stellar university. 4. Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon (he's my son's doctor.) I have no idea about his lifestyle. Basketball player at a top 10 D3 very high academic school. 5. Harvard football player. I have no idea what he does for a living. The family has a modest lifestyle. And he is very present at all of his children's activities, coached little league. I'll run into him at the grocery store in the middle of the afternoon. So he's not working insane hours. DW is a stay at home mom. 6. Unemployed mid 20 year old. D1 Ivy swimmer. |
| My brother was a top athletic recruit and went onto a top MBA program and has a great career on Wall Street. |
