Tell me about High Point University NC

Have never heard of it but looked up the stats and they are not bad - similar to Towson, where you can get a great education. This forum is gross.

My DD applied EA and was admitted with a decent scholarship. She is thrilled!

My nephew was just accepted with $$$ that they did not expect.

I assume right now they are buying stats.

It used to be similar to Elon.

All that explicit teaching of social norms and life skills sounds good to me. It’s hard for him. He’s smart. But job interviews ? Soft skills? He struggles, which is typical for autistic kids.

It sounds appealing to me too.

Elon at least tries to provide education. High Point is not about that.

below average kids, problem kids.

There is no support for this. GPAs and test scores are decent. We toured. It is pretty nice. Average will not get you here and unusually wealthy will get you somewhere else.

Wealthy families can have dullards too. The dumbest kid at NCS has to go somewhere

None sense, you can squeeze in a class between afternoon yoga and dinner at the steak house

BINGO. I know two kids very well who have attended (one of who is a close relative) and this describes them to a T.

High Point is pretty solid -- not sure why it is getting bashed. We visited and liked. Went in a different direction but there is nothing wrong with it.

Steak house has a point which is knowing how to act in a business setting for dinner. It is a good idea. Kids have to make reservations in advance, wear nice clothes, and get corrected on dinning mistakes. I am a big law lawyer and wish more of the associates had done something like this.

There are no average kids at schools like NCS. They are tested for admission.
