Yes, Brandon Lee while filming The Crow. Such an incredible performance, he was going to be a huge star. The original cut of the film actually included the moment where he was shot.

I'm sure he's unbothered. He's a bad person.

Heard about on BBC radio this morning. They interviewed a cinematographer who didn't understand how this could happen. More details should come out today, but to note:

The gun was fired once. It hit the director of cinematography and then hit the director. The director of cinematography was killed and the director should be released from the hospital soon.

Normally there is on armorer on set who is in charger of keeping the weapons. Guns with blanks should be stored in a safe. Weapons should not be handed around. We don't know if normal safety protocols were being followed.

Many (maybe most) TV shows and movies don't use blanks anymore. CGI is now used to create the image of a gun firing.

Prop guns are real guns that are used to fire blanks. Blanks are special cartridges that contain gunpowder but no ballistics. Meaning: They make a bang sound like a gun, have a muzzle explosion etc...but do not fire bullets or anything else. No movie set even has bullets to load into a prop gun in the first place. That said, they can be deadly. Misfire. Someone could have prepared the cartridge incorrectly . Shrapnel from the cartridge can in rare cases explode and cause damage or death. She was most likely shot because she was probably filming a scene where the gun is pointing at the camera when it was fired. the Director would have been standing behind her. Prayers for her family, for the family of the director, for Alec Baldwin and for the rest of the cast and crew. This must have been horriffic.

For Brandon Lee, what happened was there was a bullet head stuck inside the barrel before it was used. The pressure from the blank actually pushed out the stuck bullet head which hit Brandon at close range.

What were the circumstances of this accident? Was it part of a scene/rehearsal or was Alec horsing around?

Does this help or harm Alec's presidential chances in 2024?

Trump has nothing to do with this. And in any case, Trump was probably secretly flattered that he was portrayed by former hottie Alec Baldwin vs someone he actually resembles, like Kathy Bates.

It seems really unlikely that a blank would tear right through a cameraman and then maim a person standing behind her.

He would have had to have his finger on the trigger, pull it all while aimed at people. Sigh. Idiot

Not Baldwins fault. Whoever is suppose to make sure it's safe is the only one to blame.

As people have explained, he's the producer and bears ultimate responsibility to ensure that safety regulations are adhered to on set.

Gotta love DCUM experts.

Seriously! People are so evil here trashing Alec after people died. Horrible.

I’ve worked on dozens of productions and I cannot possibly conceive of a legitimate scenario where an actor (or anyone, for that matter) would be pointing a loaded gun (even with blanks) AT a member of the crew during the scene.

This has all the earmarks of either a prank gone wrong, or deliberately shooting a blank at someone in a fit of anger or whatever.

In any case, as someone who’s worked on a set with that guy, I hope this is his final screw up.

My guess is she has her head slightly turned, the shrapnel hit her in the neck and nicked a jugular and then hit the director in the arm or shoulder. That would make sense given likely height difference between them. Seems like utter freak bad luck.
