I overheard my children talking in the car this morning about some controversy at Deal, but they wouldn't tell me and ran out of the car before I could get any answers.
Anyone hear anything? |

| A 10 year old 6th grader? I guess possible but certainly not the norm. Most kids in DCPS turn from 10 to 11 in their 5th grade year. |

| Omg really? Maybe they are OOB, or the bus routes are not convenient, or any other reasons. The OP should just not worry about it but hassling them for driving their kid to school seems weird. |

True, the October born kids turn 12 at the beginning of 6th, but there will be some September babies who turned 5 by Sept 30 of K, but who were still 4 when school started, but even those kids are only 10 for a month of 6th grade. However, the current senior class is the first to have the September 30 cut off instead of December 31 (and they were given the option of which rule to follow). Before then, it was Dec 31, so there used to be 10 year olds in 6th, so many kids who graduated last year and a decent handful of current seniors were 10 years old in 6th grade. |

We live in Petworth and my 6th grader who is 12 (October birthday) gets a ride to school every morning. What's the problem?

Was it from today ?
There was another 8th grade fight. Some boy was pantsing kids playing baseketball. He went to pants another kid who turned around and punched him. As a part of this, some ones glasses broke so there was blood. |
