A 10 year old 6th grader? I guess possible but certainly not the norm. Most kids in DCPS turn from 10 to 11 in their 5th grade year.
True, the October born kids turn 12 at the beginning of 6th, but there will be some September babies who turned 5 by Sept 30 of K, but who were still 4 when school started, but even those kids are only 10 for a month of 6th grade. However, the current senior class is the first to have the September 30 cut off instead of December 31 (and they were given the option of which rule to follow). Before then, it was Dec 31, so there used to be 10 year olds in 6th, so many kids who graduated last year and a decent handful of current seniors were 10 years old in 6th grade.
