| We are currently at a resort. Kids are 10 and 8. How long can we keep sharing one room? I’d prefer to do it until college, but not sure if that’s weird. |
| It's not weird. We get two rooms because we'd rather have the privacy than the money, but my parents got one room (with 3 kids) even when we were all in college. Of course, it was pretty horrible IMO (I hated listening to my dad snore and pee), which is why as an adult with my own family I get two rooms even though it is $$. |
| Depends on if they can still share a bed |
| 12 and 10 and we still share if at a resort and no cost did available. |
| ^no condo available |
|
Incredibly weird.
Once your kids hit the teen years you will not want to share a room with them. I can 100% guarantee they won't want to share with you. |
^Incredibly weird wanting to do it until they go to college. At those ages it's fine. |
Our girls are teens and truly don’t care. |
| No vacation sex? |

My aunt and uncle did this with their three kids until they stopped going on vacation together. They were five adults, crammed into one room. My parents started getting two rooms when we were around the ages of your kids. For DH and me, we started getting two adjoining rooms when the kids were in preschool. Space made everyone so much happier. One adult and one kid stayed in each room. Now with them as teens, we try to find AirBnBs and they can get their own rooms. They are often less expensive than hotels.
So, you can all stay in one room forever if you like or do the extreme opposite. It’s personal choice. |
My teens are happy to go on vacation. They aren't going to complain about sharing a room when they realize a vacation is already a luxury. -- normal not rich person. |
Not OP but no, not with the kids right there. It’s not the main part of the family vacation! I’m still not doing Yang in the AirBnB with everyone in their own rooms since they teens are likely up walking around and up later than us. |
The only thing incredible weird is your response. |
| Op. Right now each parent shares a bed with one kid. We are staying at a pricey resort and I’m not sure I’d want to spend 8k for a week worth of a hotel stay. Will keep Airbnbs in mind in the future. |
| Forever. |
