| DD admitted to Brown and Duke last week. We don't qualify for any FA, so the cost is virtually the same. DD plans to study premed track. We had visited both schools earlier in our college tour, and DD liked them both. DD has no idea where to stay after graduation from college. We know that they are both good choices, but DD has hard time to make a decision. She's frustrated. Please provide some suggestions. Thank you very much in advance. |

Brown. Much better.
|
| Duke. Much stronger science |

Why or Why are you or your kid asking this forum?? Good lord use that so called intelligence and decide for yourself you little humble bragger.
Pick for yourself. Decide for yourself. |
So touchy! |
| Go visit each school. Even if you already went. Go again. Make the time. |
| I am going to call foul on these posts. Besides the abundance of x v Y posts popping up since last week, Brown and Duke are very different. Hard for me to imagine a situation where a kid has what it takes to be admitted to both and then posts such a throwaway question. |
| She can’t go wrong with either, idea of going to whichever school puts a smile on her lips, is the school for her. |

Either is great. She should visit both again, without you, and stay with students, and see how she likes them.
Does she want freezing weather or mild weather? Does she want more liberal/crunchy or more middle of the road/preppy/sporty? |
| What were her stats? Public or private school? |
| For premed Duke |
| I geuss Brown is easier to get good GPA |
| oh no I hope she doesn’t pick wrong |
| So she went to both schools to visit and had no preference? Not even one based on general vibe? |

The most notable thing about Brown is the lack of core curriculum. Brown’s majors have requirements so Bio major at Brown has probably the same number of biology courses required as Duke’s does, but there is likely greater flexibility in choosing courses within the major at Brown, and outside the major Brown has no requirements— students design their own education.
Some kids love that and some don’t. |
