casual chic dress for summer desert wedding?

I'm going to the wedding of a family member this summer. The theme is along the lines of desert chic. Not super formal but definitely stylish, and a legit hollywood scene (like millennial tv celebrities). I'm early 40s, with 2 kids but in pretty good shape. This is not "my scene" at all but I'm looking forward to it all. What the heck do I wear? Definitely thinking something loose and flowy to fit the vibe - no tight cocktail dresses - but I'm having a hard time thinking beyond the obvious "mall" stores and I feel like this will be a fun chance to stretch my pretty conservative fashion comfort zone. But I also don't want to break the budget -- so ideally not more than $300 or so.

Maybe something from Evereve? They're a cut above the usual basics.

Personally I would take this to a tailor and remove the sleeves, add a pashmina type wrap.
