| I heard there was an email from a former student that was distributed to parents this week about a teacher who abused a student many years ago. I am trying to learn more about this situation. I have contacted the principals but they have not responded. Does anyone know anything about what happened? |
| I have questions about this as well. I am a FS parent and all we heard is that police were alerted, looked into “concerns,” closed the investigation and did not bring charges. The communication did not mention anything about abuse. |
| What is the time period in question for each school? |
| I saw the email. It was really horrible - sexual abuse by a teacher to an elementary school student in the early 2000s. The email was from the former student (now adult) with a lot of detail. The teacher was at Forestville and now at Sherman Franklin. The police are involved and FCPS was very quick to shut it down, saying the case was closed. The email said it wasn't. Very disturbing and I am not sure what happens now. |
| Even if it is true count on FCPS to downplay and dissemble. |
| Can you share the email? I normally would respect the privacy of the victim, but it sounds like this is someone who went through something terrible and needs to get their story out there. It would be incredibly disappointing if FCPS ignored this because of a technicality like statute of limitations, and the abuser continues to harm children. |
| Sharing this type of email is illegal and irresponsible. Questions should be addressed to school board. |
| Ok it sounded like it was sent out to all of the parents in a blast email or something of that sort. If it was shared privately with a few people in confidence then absolutely it should be kept private. |
This person is still working at Franklin Sherman elementary ? |
| Will Franklin Sherman elementary keep a child abuser on staff , if this person is still walking the school hallways it speaks volumes about the lack of concern for the safety of the kids at FS. Shouldn't the administration immediately remove any such individual from the school premises. |
If the case was dropped that means there was not sufficient evidence to go forward with charges. Therefore the person should be treated as innocent. Anyone can accuse someone of being a pedophile/sexual predator and ruin your life whether it’s true or not. My ex-wife threatened to accuse me of this if I ever left her… not saying this is the case here, but I do have sympathy for a person that was found innocent and still punished/treated as an abuser |
| the investigation has been already closed ? |
The accusation is from the early 2000’s, if I am reading the posts right. So the police case could have been reported, investigated, and closed. If the case was closed with no charges then the individual is treated as an innocent person and would be allowed to keep teaching. |
Yeah that makes no sense unless they discovered info about the person who distributed the emails (mentally unstable, past that contributes to the accusations being false… revenge ). |
But at a minimum the person would be put on administrative leave initially while things are looked into. Something is not adding up. |
