of course, they are gorgeous now but I really thought my son was gorgeous as a toddler and baby. Simply wasn’t true based on his photos.
Don't have to. Being bombarded by friends pics of their average kids and lives made me realize early on that every mother has wool over her eyes in regards to that.
Yes! I’m laughing as I type. Yes! God love them, they were funny looking little things!
I always thought my oldest was gorgeous and I look back at his pictures and still think he was (and is). My second child I thought was gorgeous as a toddler absolutely wasn’t even cute! She was a little funny looking actually. She grew into her eyes mostly and now is very pretty.
Rose colored glasses when they’re little
Yeah… but they are beautiful now!
I assumed the opposite. I thought they were fairly average then but when I look back I notice how cute they really were much cuter than many other little ones. They are getting to that awkward stage so that's why I'm able to notice it.
Yep!!

I still think my toddlers were cute--but in the way that almost all toddlers are cute not anything exceptional.
My 7yo is still little boy cute, but my 10yo is definitely getting into awkward tween stage! |

My kid really does look super cute a lot, but I also have plenty of baby and toddler pics that are just kind of awkward and not attractive. But that's just people. I think part of it is we take so many photos of kids now. Unless you have a little super model on your hands, you'll wind up with plenty of awkward shots, especially during those years with weird hair lengths, double chins, etc.
My DD also inherited her father's ability to always close her eyes for posed photos. It's uncanny. When we do professional photos I only hire people who specialize in candid photography because even trained photographers will struggle to get a photo of us together where we are all looking at the camera and both of them have their eye open. I still think she's beautiful! Just maybe not super photogenic. Those aren't the exact same thing (I don't close my eyes in photos but I'm also a reasonably attractive person who doesn't always look great in photos). |
Listen, no one looks cute in every photo. For reference, here's Zoe Kravitz in a candid baby shot and then as an adult (obviously with assistance of a stylist, makeup artist, etc.):

I thought my baby was so beautiful! Now I look at photos of him as a baby and he actually looked a lot like Alfred Hitchcock.
I actually think my kids were much cuter babies/toddlers than they are now (teens/early 20s)
No, i still look at my now 20yo son’s baby and toddler pictures and marvel at how gorgeous he was. He truly was stunning. He’s still good looking but not head turning like back then
