I need to gain weight, and I also need to be careful about getting certain nutrients due to a health issue.
At first, I did this mostly with food. Then, I realized I could tuck away 100 calories here and there with a glass of milk or juice. It’s so much easier than purely doing it through food. Normally, I only drink water. Anyone know if there is a general recommendation as to how many calories to drink versus eat? |
| It doesn’t matter. Calories are calories whether you eat or drink them. If you struggle to eat enough to gain weigh because you get full quickly you may benefit from drinking more calories as these don’t typically fill you up as much. If your trying to lose weight the advice is usually the opposite, don’t drink your calories. |

The one thing I would be concerned about if you're drinking more calories than you're eating is fiber. Are you making sure to eat enough fiber?
I'm trying to help my DS gain weight so I make him a fattening smoothie every day which includes chia seeds, flax seeds, and hemp seeds. Also very high in fiber. |

Thank you for these helpful ideas! I’ll check on fiber to make sure I get enough.
Nice to know I can drink some of these calories! And, yes, I do struggle to get them all in—maybe a small stomach is the issue. |
| Lots of people gain weight by drinking fancy Starbucks drinks! |
That’s a good idea! Haha. 😎 OP |
