Greasy fried rice

Our takeout fried rice is often greasy. Is there anything I can do to cut the grease? The kids love it, and I love the taste but my stomach doesn't love the grease.

Make it at home. Takes 15 minutes

Quick fry in a skillet or pat down firmly with paper towel.

Thank you; I can do this! (Unfortunately, I can't cook it.)

I love the way Thai people make fried rice. It's often less greasy, but if the rice is greasy it is hard to get rid of. You can squeeze a lime over it like Thai people do. It will help cut through the grease for a more balanced dish.

Do you like cauliflower rice? You could mix a serving or two into your fried rice. It'll cut down on how much grease you have because you'll have less rice (and leftovers for the next day!)

You can’t make fried rice? It’s the easiest thing out there. If you know how to make fried eggs and rice, you can make it easy.

I would love to make fried rice at home that tastes yummy like Chinese-American fried rice. Anyone know how to get that restaurant flavor?

My kids and husband gobble down the stuff I make but it's Thai-style and calls for equal parts fish sauce and soy sauce.

This recipe is very quick and easy. Add meat and other veggies if desired:

This one is also really good and is written by a family that actually owned a Chinese restaurant:

I buy a bag of frozen rice and a bag of cauliflower fried rice from Whole Foods. I literally cut open the bags and cook in a frying pan for minutes or so. Healthy fried rice done. We eat this at least once a per week, if I’m feeling extra fancy I’ll fry up a couple eggs to go with it.

If you want the restaurant fried rice, you can balance out the rest of your plate w steamed stuff, or add plain rice to the fried rice. Reheating it in a pan (^^) doesn’t eliminate any grease.

I just learned how to make fried rice - sooo easy. And rewarding.

Also, you can cook your rice in a microwave. Don't believe the hype that you must have a rice cooker. Take a cup of rice, cover it with the recommended water and cook for 20 minutes in a microwave. If it's too dry, add more water. I know...blasphemy to those who swear by rice cookers but it's the only way I make rice.
