Passover Birthday Cake?

Anonymous
Any ideas where we could order one? First time having Passover in the DC area and we have a kid with a Passover birthday. We had a great source before but need a new one. I am trying to avoid adding baking a cake to all the other requirements.

What is a Passover birthday cake?

My son’s birthday sometimes falls during Passover. I did an ice cream cake for the birthday that fell during Passover. I would call some ice cream stores to see if they can do one without the cake part, layers of ice cream only.

You could also try Moti’s In Rockville or one of the kosher grocery stores in Silver Spring. Those places might close their bakeries during Passover.

I know you said you don’t want to bake but flourless chocolate cake or cheesecake with a nut crust are fast and pretty easy to do.

More than that. For many people rice wouldn't do either.

Unfortunately the religious side of the family eliminates corn syrup so that probably eliminates ice cream cake. Flourless chocolate cake is probably the home made alternative. I am just already stressed about the whole thing. I have enjoyed the last two years when it has just been my family and we have done the parts/foods that we enjoy and skipped the rest,

Passover restrictions aren’t gluten restrictions.

It’s my understanding that they’re very familiar with the restrictions. You could always call to ask.

What about those rainbow layer cakes? You could decorate it as a birthday cake. They sell at Costco during Passover.

You can call a temple to ask this even without being a member.

why? I’m not Jewish so don’t understand, not being snarky, just wondering what the religious reason is for the restriction.
