Spring Cocktail Party

Anonymous
This beautiful day is encouraging me to host a cocktail party for about 20-30 friends. Any suggestions for menu items? I’m looking for some fresh ideas.

Two of my favorite cocktail party snacks here - both can be made in advance and reheated just before serving, just make sure you leave them to cool on a wire rack completely if making ahead.

Puff pastry, spread with Indian spicy green chutney, grated sharp cheddar, minced red onion. Roll up, slice into pinwheels, bake.

Gougeres - French cheese puffs

NP bu this sounds delicious. Are you Indian? Is this from Indian-ish?

Yes, I’m Indian, and no, it’s not from the book Indian-ish, though it might fit in! I stumbled on it when I had a few scraps of puff pastry left over from something that needed trimming. I had green chutney and cheddar on hand, et voilà! I decided to add some onion the next time I made them with a full sheet of puff pastry.
All the aunties I know here have some similar “Indian-ish” party recipe - I’m glad the author thought of writing a cookbook around it.
