My child took the ERB test recently and we just got the results.
Auditory comprehension: 95% Reading comprehension: 99% Word analysis: 91% Mathematics:85% We also got other papers where it says that my child exceeds expectations in most areas (except mathematics and word analysis where it’s a mix of exceed expectations and meets expectations). Are these normal, good or average scores? Thank you |
| The percentiles literally answer your questions. |
|
Th number represents the percentile the students who took the test falls in based on scores for all students their grade who took the same test. So your child scored higher than 99 percent of the test takers in Reading Comp and higher than 85 percent of test takers in the math sections. 99% is the highest you can get in terms of percentile. 15 percent of students overall scored higher than your child in math.
These are very good scores. |
OP here. Yes, but I was wondering what other kids in DC private score. It’s like with the WPPSI. My DD scored 91% which I thought was amazing, but then I realized that most kids in DC private school have scores like that. I wish there was a comparison within the school, but there isn’t. |
Thank you! |
Of course they are great scores but the stanines are what matters. There should be a chart somewhere to tell you which stanine you are in. |
Clearly your child got the smart gene from your spouse. |
| Are those percentages national? Suburban? Or independent schools? |
|
I think they were national since there were two columns with mean scores for suburban and independent tht were around 75/85% next to the column with my child’s score |
|
OP here. Maybe I did not phrase my question clearly. I would like to know how those scores compare to children in DC private schools. Are most kids in the 90%+ in DC private schools just as most are in the 90% in the WPPSI?
Thanks! |
OP here. There is no mention of stanine. Thanks |
|
Usually there is a stanine score of up to 9.
Don’t focus on the national scores but rather the local ones. |
| Ok I obviously don’t know where your child is in school but generally speaking these are good scores at local privates but not astounding or anything. Very likely the percentiles would be quite a bit lower if compared to local private school peers but more like 15 points or so lower rather than 50 points lower. Obviously this is ballpark. I’m basing it on what I remember from seeing my child’s scores which did have National and private school data though I don’t believe it was local privates. |
Thanks! There are no stanine on the report |
