| Does anyone have a child who went here? We are going up to visit soon but I don't know anyone who went there. My DS is interested in business and it looks like they have a good business school. Any other similar-sized schools with business programs that we should visit? So far, we have toured Loyola in Baltimore and St. Joe's in Philly. TIA! |

Is your son specifically interested in Catholic schools?
University of Dayton has about 8,000 undergrads, so bigger than Scranton, is that too big for your son? |
I think more than 5K is too many students. I'd like him to be no more than 3-4 hrs driving from MD. He has been in Catholic schools since MS. We aren't looking at Catholic schools exclusively though. |

You’ve got a very nice selection of schools there. Does he know what he wants to focus on re business? Is he more quantitative than qualitative? Look into their job placement and alumni networks.
What did he think of St. Joe’s, Scranton, and Loyola? |
| Sorry, realize you have not seen Scranton yet = need more coffee! My son could not get past “The Office,” so he would not look at Scranton, and didn’t want to stay in Maryland, so Loyola was out and St. Joe’s was in! |
| Duquesne in Pittsburgh. |
| Longwood and Christopher Newport are both under 5,000 with popular business programs. |
He is not sure yet. He is not great at math so maybe Scranton's business communications might be a good fit. He is a great writer. We will go back to St. Joe's because we visited last summer and it was pretty dead. Maybe an open house in the fall. He was meh about it since it was so dead. He liked Loyola better since because school was in session when we visited. We live in Baltimore and I'm an alum. |
Thanks for this. He has gotten some emails from Duquesne but I didn't know much about it. We will check it out. I forgot to include his GPA. He goes to a Catholic HS and has a 3.3 unweighted GPA (3.5 weighted). Math, chemistry, and physics are not strengths and bring his GPA down. He is a great writer and excels at history classes too. |
Thanks. I've heard of Christopher Newport but not Longwood so I'll check them out. |
| St. Joe’s in Philly has a excellent business school with great networking and many jobs for business school right out of school. Philly businesses love St. Joe’s students especially accounting grads. I would pick that over Scranton. |
Thanks! We will go back and visit during an open house. |

Agree St. Joe's. Fabulous school. Great city. So many opportunities in Philly and NYC close-by.
Longwood is a lacrosse school. Is he into it? |
| Longwood and Christopher Newport are both Virginia public schools. I'm not sure how much (if any) merit aid they give to out of state students, My in-state sons applied and were accepted, but received very minimal merit--it was actually cheaper for them to go to out of state publics and privates because they offered more money! |
No. He's not into sports. |
