| We need to host a big group of teens for a sports team end of season dinner. Suggestion is pasta (maybe a variety with some chicken too), but we’ve never had such a big group, any recommendations for a good place for takeout? We can’t cook it ourselves because of timing issues. Any experience with maggianos? Thanks. |
| Have it catered and do it outside at a park |
| 50 teens and possibly parents def sounds like something that should be done at a school, church, and catered |
| Noodles and Company would be much cheaper. Maggianos is good for carry out but they raised their prices and made their portions much smaller and not worth it. |
| Carmines in DC |
| District taco is great for this. We use them for several small conferences we held. It’s a make your own taco bar. |
| Bucca de Peppo are huge portions, maybe same price point or lower than Maggiano’s and definitely cheaper than Carmine’s. But I think local past and pizza places are cheaper than all of them. |
| Mama Lucia’s is perfect |

Yes, I’ve done Maggianno’s for a group before, although it was indoors. They did such a good job that they will always be my first choice for a large group, especially if I don’t know their tastes in food. Maggianno’s was on time, brought everything I’d need including serving utensils, and everyone enjoyed their food. I also had a good experience ordering. They asked questions and made excellent suggestions. As in : 50 athletic teens might need larger portions than a 50 people meeting for a 50th year HS reunion. The portions are very generous, especially with the pasta, but you might want to get advice on something like the chicken portions if the teens will be serving themselves. You also might want to augment the desserts.

I just read through the newer comments. My experiences were pre-COVID, so I can’t speak to the current portion sizes. I’ve been to the original UWS Carmine’s, and assuming the DC location is pretty much the same, I agree that it would be an excellent choice. |
We've done carry out a few times and it wasn't worth it at all. They used to do the buy one get one free and now its buy one, get one $5 and the portions sizes are much much smaller. Not generous at all. And, they give you a few slices of bread. The salad is not worth it and for the zucchini they give you 6 strips so its over a dollar a strip of zucchini. |

I’ve had Magianos for groups many times, both indoors and outside, for our pool and sports teams. It’s always been good. When I planned it we estimated 2 kids 12 and under to equal one adult. Had Caesar salad, pasta with tomato sauce, chicken Marsala, mushroom chicken pasta, eggplant parmigiana. We usually used Costco to buy drinks and dessert. Maggianos will deliver and set up too.
Have also used Noodles with good results, it’s a little less expensive I think. |
