| We have a rising 9th grader. Got into Bullis and St. John's. We love Bullis but it is double the cost and we have 3 kids. Is it really worth the extra cost? How is SJC's college placement? I know the basic differences - Catholic/ location/ sports focus. Help us decide. |
| Bullis is pricier, nicer facilities but weak on academics. SJC has it all and the academics are exceptional. |
| $53,000 for Bullis?!?! How is that a good idea? |
|
What are your child's needs?
I think Bullis classes are smaller and is a part of what you get for the extra $$. For college placement, the Bullis kids I know who are off to ivy are recruited athletes and may do a year at a prep school before sitting down with the class. (Which is interesting since they were already red shirted) |
| Our family isn't religious, but even with that, I would send my kid to St John's over Bullis. |
| DS got into Bullis and SJC also . Was a tough choice bc the new student night really wowed us. Mine is a 2 sport athlete who really connected with both the SJC coaches. He tends to do better in school when he’s motivated to do well but others that aren’t me and my husband . So I paid the SJC deposit this am 😀. I loved both schools and it’s a rough choice !!!!!! |
| Current Bullis family here -- our child is a Senior. We have been very happy with the Bullis community and academics. Many kids in the current Senior class are already placed in Ivies and top 5 schools -- they're absolute non-athletes. There are also great student-athletes already accepted at top schools. I would recommend talking to Bullis families directly. It's a great school. |

Bullis' new student night was amazing.
What colleges do non-athletes get into from SJC? I feel like their list is probably biased by the number of competitive athletes. Any info from current or families of recent grads? |
this is just not true. |
This is true. I’m sure the Bullis college counseling office, which is fantastic, would be happy to talk to you. |
Give us numbers. It just isn't true. |
| Both are good choices. Bullis has been great for my student who loves the sports program and the academics at Bullis. It's a fabulous community. Definitely reach out to Bullis families to learn more. |
It is not true. OP, ask for these stats from each school - the results will prove the "Bullis grads go to the Ivies" is complete b.s. As a private school teacher at a top 3 school, I would recommend SJC hands down. |
| You seem pretty certain. Why don't you provide some evidence as to why it isn't try? |
