Any insights into how the college admissions process works at these schools?
Would they affect the outcome significantly? |
| Athletics would make a bigger difference. |
| It varies year yo year but I do keep an eye on Potomac vs Holton. Potomac is markedly stronger, controlling for female vs female |
This is my opinion as well |

Thanks. DD is actually leaning towards Madeira for a few reasons. I am trying to get behind it but I’m worried about college admissions.
|
The nice thing about Madeira is that it starts at ninth grade. Otherwise the other schools are better. |
Wrong! Holton has much better results. Too many Potomac grads go to UVA -- they could have saved $$ + gone to any public h.s. |
| I think the college counseling at Madeira has been one of its weakest areas. I could be wrong but I remember reading a few years back about the main college counselor being too out of touch and there were some bad experiences talked about online. |
| The ‘21 college list for Madeira was pretty impressive. Is it posted on their website? |
Do you have any clue how competitive UVA is for northern Virginia applicants? |
I know about UVA, but it is not aspirational for parents paying huge bucks for private. |
last 4 year Holton avg 77 students- Harvard - 5 Yale - 2 Princeton - 4 Stanford - 3 calTech - 0 Holton avg 108 studnet - Harvard - 12 Yale - 3 Princeton - 4 Stanford - 8 calTech - 1 statistically more Potomac kids going to elite universities. |
Wishful thinking |
Going out on a limb here: you've never taking a course in statistics. |
Which one is Potomac? And does anyone have similar numbers for Madeira? |
