Both my DH and I work in NW DC.
2 small children going to be school age in a few years. |

Hi OP, what is your budget?
Will you be driving or by metro to DC? |
|
Vienna has lots of great restaurants, but unfortunately it has lots of traffic (every hour of every day).
If you can afford Great Falls, that should be your choice. |
| Schools are better in Great Falls. |
1.1-1.5, driving most likely but having a metro option is definitely enticing. |
| Personally, Vienna. There is a real neighborhood feel, the schools are good, shopping and restaurants are easy to access, and depending on where you live, walkable. Metro is also closer. |
| Check pimmit hills. |
Nonsense. And who wants to spend 45 minutes each way on a bus to Langley? Vienna has a far tighter sense of community. |
| I'm not aware of any part of Great Falls where your kids can walk/bike to neighborhood friends and amenities. If you find one, then Great Falls is probably better. But we chose Vienna because we wanted to have a neighborhood and the interactions that come with that. |
| Vienna has the metro. Great Falls has bad morning traffic. |
| Vienna |
| Vienna and Great Falls are so different. I think you should do a little more research before deciding on those two just because they are the next "best" neighborhoods. |
| I'm confused by this post. Isn't great falls way more expensive than much of DC? |
| How is Great Falls possibly more affordable than DC or McLean? Have you been looking in Great Falls? |
Because the same house in Great Falls is cheaper than in McLean or in DC? Come on man! |
