What are your favorites for bibimbap, tofu stew, etc.?
We are vegetarian but love Korean, and just recently moved to this area. |
| Need go to to Nova for that |
| There is a pretty decent one in downtown Bethesda— think it’s on Cordell. |
| Seoul Food DC in Takoma Park is wonderful (especially if vegan or vegetarian - they also serve some meat). Some of their food is traditional and some fusion. |
Really? There are so many Korean people here (Rockville) |
| Not in MoCo. Go to NoVa for Korean food. PG county (near college park) has pretty good Korean-Chinese food place thou. Da Rae Won on Rt 1. |
There are but, for some reason, not really good korean restaurants IMHO. |
Absolutely agree. Hop on the beltway and you'll be in Korean food heaven in 20 minutes. |
My son and husband love it because of the bibimbap, but since I'm not a fan of that, I don't think the rest of the menu is impressive. |
What are your favorites in Northern Virginia? We will definitely try it on a weekend. Anything reasonably good in Moco? This is for a weekday birthday for a Korean-food-loving tween and I don't think we can make the treak out to Annandale on a weeknight. |

I don't know if it's still open, but there's a place called Arirang in a hole in the wall strip mall in Rockville. I ate there with coworkers a few times but I have no idea how it compares to other restaurants. They had to order for me, so it seemed authentic. I had no idea what was going on but it was all delicious.
Also a place called Chadol just opened up near Onelife in Rockville. This is the opposite end of the spectrum and is fancier and more expensive. Haven't tried it yet. |
What does your kid like? |
Oh yeah, I forgot about Arirang. That place is not bad and they have jjambong too (kinda unusual for traditional korean place). |

Try this place:
https://www.hwagaejangtuh.com/ It's on Veirs Mill. Authentic and good but do have a fair bit of meat on their menu. It's next to a Korean Bakery. |
tofu/mushroom bibimbap, sweet potato noodles, kimbap, tofu stew (soondubu?), scallion pancakes. Her best friend from the city we left is Korean-American and most of her korean-food eating was done at their house. She is in withdrawal
