In his first month, which apparently has never happened previously
https://www.wric.com/news/politics/new-poll-finds-virginia-voters-mixed-on-gov-youngkins-job-approval-proposals/ Overall, 41 percent of Virginia voters approve of Youngkin’s job performance during his first few weeks in office and 43 percent disapprove. Sixteen percent said they did not know how they felt. “Youngkin’s approval numbers are certainly lower than those of recent governors in Wason Center polling early in their term,” Kidd added. |
| In your dreams, OP. |
DP. Do you disagree with how OP presented the article? There’s a lot in there that OP didn’t highlight that is problematic for Youngkin. |
|
He certainly revealed his MAGAness earlier than I anticipated. Craziness right from day one.

Nothing surprising to me in this poll. It suggests:
1) Most bonafide Rs support him 2) Most bonafide Ds oppose him 3) Others, including perhaps some who voted across party lines, are waiting a bit before casting judgment |
| Who cares? He won. It’s done and we can’t change it. No use worrying about it. |
What does this even mean? |
...you can't even run for re-election in Virginia as Governor so I'm not even sure what OPs point is. |
But that’s not the norm for Virginia politics. Even four years ago when Northam took office there wasn’t such an extreme political divide. Unfortunately Youngkin’s first moves after taking office were hyper partisan and divisive, which set an ugly tone. |
He needs to take the senate to get his agenda through. He won’t do that if he’s underwater |
OP shared a link. Are you a sock puppet? |
+1. He is focusing on the wrong things if he wants to retake the Senate. Per the article: 63% support teaching how racism still impacts American society. 57% oppose a ban on teaching CRT. Youngkin went against all of these voters when he made multiple attempts to ban “divisive” topics in schools. 45% of voters do support repealing the grocery tax, but few Virginia voters want to use the surplus to fund it. 59% want the surplus to be used for government services like education, public safety and social services. Youngkin will need to raise taxes elsewhere to make up the lost revenue if he wants to maintain voter support for repealing the grocery tax. 56% of voters think decisions about mask mandates in schools should be made at the local level based on local health conditions. Youngkin thumbed his nose at the majority of a Virginia voters by taking away local control. Two thirds of Virginia voters support Virginia remaining in the RGGI and passing the Virginia Clean Economy Act. Youngkin has already made multiple attempts to undo them. More than half of Virginians oppose a six-week abortion ban and requiring an ultrasound before a woman can have an abortion. Youngkin will lose more ground if he tries to go there. |
