We may get a puppy
First weekend in March but have a trip April 9 that can't be changed. Is this impossible or doable? |
| Can you bring your puppy? I traveled with mine around that age. |
| I wouldn't do it. A puppy will still be getting used to his/her surroundings by that point, so routines are very important. If someone in your family can stay behind and look after the puppy, that will be best. |
| Yes, it's doable. You can still have your routine on the trip, just in a different location. |
We can't bring the puppy to this trip What if a dog sitter came? |
I don't think so but can check. Very unlikely! |
Will you or won't you? Get puppy after trip. |
We all have to go. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. What if someone came to the house to watch it? |
This is a bad start for your puppy! Who is not an IT by the way!!! Can't you get the dog after the trip? |
You'd need one there 24/7 not just to check up on the puppy. Its also very likely that the puppy will revert with regard to potty/training once you are back. This is a very important time to be bonding with your new puppy. Probably not what you wanted to hear but its the truth. |
| Can you delay pick up until after your trip? Or will the breeder or rescue you’re getting it from take it back to care for during your trip? Puppies are too young to leave unless someone is going to stay in your home almost 24/7 while you’re gone. |
| This could work out really well for you if your breeder offers training programs. You leave him/her there until you get back and they can train it for you. but please dont bring home a puppy and then leave. |
| Not possible. |
| How long can we not travel once a puppy comes home then? Just curious. First time dog owners. |
| Are you getting it from a breeder? Our breeder will board their puppies/dogs |
