Whats up at Holy Child?

Anonymous
Does anyone have any insight as to what's going on at Holy Child? It sounds like chaos? I am applying for 6th grade. But am hearing that a lot of HS parents are unhappy, new head of school isn't Catholic? Tuition just went up? There was a coffee last week with a lot of unhappy Moms? Any insight? Also - my DD has some special needs.

Oh no! We have applied and I hadn't heard anything about this. And when did they get a new Head of School?

I know nothing of the school, but be careful if you are getting your infomration from one unhappy parent. Often those folks speak the loudest and not everyone agrees with them, but they assume everyone agrees with them.

I don’t know specifically about HC, but tuition goes up every year at every school. Some years by a bigger percentage than others.

Who is the new head of school?

Can someone elaborate on the Head of School not being Catholic? What is the source of this information?

HC parent and can clarify. Despite being a school of only about 350 total students, HC created a head of Middle School and hired a new head of the Upper School this year. A MAN - Stacy Stoyanoff. He is not Catholic. Anyone at the school can confirm. School clearly going away from Catholic tradition not sure where.

Yes. And because his name is Stacy, a lot of parents didn't figure out until into the school year that the new head of this "Catholic all girls school" was now a non catholic guy.

This is outrageous. Why would a Catholic school hire a non-Catholic head of school? If the school moves away from its Catholic identity, where is the value of paying $40K a year? Georgetown University did, but they at least have the academic reputation to pull that off. And looking at his background, he was involved in production of assessment materials for IB. Not sure what that adds to the mix there. Disappointing.

One non Catholic hire does certainly not mean the school is any less Catholic. Grow up.

Really? The head of school? I can see a few teachers, but not a leader in the school.

The overall Head of School is a woman and a devout Catholic. It's just the Upper School Head who is not a Catholic.

So every employee, faculty member, etc. at Catholic or Catholic-leaning independent school is a devout Catholic? Ridiculous.....Find something real to whine about..So sad!

This is an engineered troll post by a parent (or an alumna, or both) with an axe to grind, in case it's not abundantly obvious.

I don't think anyone is saying this. But I would expect leaders in a school (heads of schools) to be at least a baptized Catholic (not necessarily devout). To be able to lead a group in prayer or speak to the doctrine is important in a "Catholic" school.
