Ben Gvir is a disgrace although I don’t agree with your analogy.

And nice justification for gang rape and murder, you sicko.

You are the ones justifying murder.

Gang rape was long debunked by Max Blumenthal, Jewish. The December New York Times story “Screams without Words” was debunked.

You can read more about it here

https://thegrayzone.com/2024/01/10/questions-nyt-hamas-rape-report/amp/

The UN states that rape allegations are credible but I doubt you would believe them unless you personally witnessed it. Who knows maybe you were actually there?

The U.N. envoy focusing on sexual violence in conflict, Pramila Patten, said Monday there were “reasonable grounds” to believe Hamas committed rape, “sexualized torture,” and other cruel and inhuman treatment of women during the attack.

Now the UN is credible to you ? I thought Israel calls them anti Semitic and wanting to threaten funding ? They were brow beaten into making that statement that they have “reasonable grounds” to believe rape occurred without going into detail.

The UN has realized that anti-semitism is so endemic that most Hamas supporters internationally could care less about some pesky Jews being brutally raped. It’s just fun and games to their left wing base.

Please stop trying to justify Israel's genocide in Gaza with your faux cries of antisemitism. The hypocrisy and dishonesty are nauseating.

This is what is bothering me. This isn’t a situation where one side is innocent and the other is evil. There is history and nuance and just a too many victims on both sides. There is no resolution without this realization and people being willing to understand the other’s experience. Unfortunately, Biden (and likely Trump) view that the U.S. should stand with Israel in all situations is too simplistic to get to a lasting peace in the region.

Meanwhile, every mother, father, sibling Israel kills in Gaza is leaving behind a Palestinian that will hate them.

DP.

100% agree with the bolded.

Disagree with the rest.

1. There's literally nothing the US can do to facilitate "lasting peace in the region". The two sides here have irreconcilable differences, and both prefer conflict over compromise.

2. Many/most Palestinians hated Israel before this round of conflict. The increase in hatred is marginal.

Then the only thing left to do is to sell everything and divide the family assets in half. Nobody keeps the house.

Like all divorces, devil is in the details.

Palestinians won't take responsibility for f***ing up by rejecting the original partition, and even the most "moderate" want the '47 or '67 borders.

Israel won't give back what it has taken through military conquest and settlement.

I don't really care what either of them want. If it's irreconcilable then nobody gets the land.

Kinda unrealistic. Israel has the land and has nuclear weapons.

In reality, if it's irreconcilable, then Israel will simply keep the land.

No one can/will forcibly remove them.

And that's one of the major problems. The Israeli government doesn't want peace because it thinks it benefits more from the status quo. That is why the US etc should just unilaterally recognize Palestine. It'll still be under occupation but there will be incentives for peace on both sides.

More accurately, I'd say Israel wants the status quo AND peace.

The Palestinians obviously won't accept the status quo--they want (1) '47 borders, (2) '67 borders, or (3) no Israel.

Which version of Palestine do you propose the US should recognize? And what do you think would be the practical effect of such recognition?

No they want the status quo and more war. Greater Israel and all that. As for a Palestinian state, Israel needs to grant citizenship to all Palestinians, with right of return, adopt a constitution guaranteeing rights for all and compensation to all Palestinians. This is the only way forward.

+1000

This is what justice demands. Israel's far-right government has no intention of being fair to the Palestinians, though. Israel currently doesn't have much incentive to do the right thing, so it's going to take economic sanctions and political isolation to bring about change. Pompous Netanyahu has said, "America is a thing you can move very easily, move it in the right direction." He's been able to get away with swaying public opinion in the U.S. through lies and manipulation for a long time, and it's now past time Israel was the one "moved in the right direction."

South Africa eventually did what you are suggesting. Its constitution is quite progressive and guarantees rights for all. A President's Fund was set up to pay reparations to victims of human rights abuses under apartheid. South Africa also established a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to process past wrongs and heal from historical abuses.

I absolutely LOVE when groups throughout history - like today's Zionists - have taken the stance that their will is beyond reproach (and challenge).

If anything, this Gaza invasion has proven that Israel would be hard-pressed to launch a nuclear weapon without shitting their pants and detonating the weapon above Tel Aviv. This has been a demonstration of amateur hour war fighting like we've probably never seen before.

Speaking of, why do IDF soldiers wear diapers?

Part of the problem Israel has is Hamas has no uniform since Palestinians don’t have a military so they can’t even identify who is or isn’t Hamas. Ideally; Palestinians and Israelis should both have governments and real states and food, electric, water, should not be run by Israel . The occupation needs to end.

Both governments should work together to combat radical extremism and foil terrorist plots to harm the other . It’s already done in the West Bank.

Terrorism is rampant in the West Bank. Settler terrorists continue to murder and otherwise abuse Palestinians and steal their homes.

DP. Of the 1,139 people killed on 10/7, two were infants, 12 other children under the age of 10 were killed, and 36 civilians between 10 and 19 died. So that's 48 people you could call "kids." Yes, it's absolutely horrible. Yes, I'm sure everyone here condemns what happened to them. However, in Gaza, more than twice that number of people in the same age range are killed every day. This has been going on for months, while 10/7 was a one-day affair. We should be outraged at the 48 deaths of young people on 10/7. We should be hundreds of times more outraged by hundreds of times more deaths in Gaza, and this death toll continues day after day. Conditions are worsening. Children are being killed by starvation and disease as well as bombs. The carnage has to stop!

Sorry, I was carrying on a conversation as I was writing this. Obviously, the number of people killed on 10/7 who are under 20 is 50, not 48. Fifty is a very small fraction of the daily death toll of people under 20 in Gaza.

There are posters in this thread who have written along these lines “I wish pro Hamas posters would condemn 10/7” and then a bunch of us post hay we are not pro Hamas and we condemn 10/7. But I mirror this. I wish the “10/7 was horrible” (which is was no doubt) folks can also say that the suffering in Gaza is horrible too.

Please restore my faith in humanity?!? Anyone?

The suffering in Gaza is horrible too.

Israel was 100% wrong/criminal to cut off food and water.

Israel is wrong to prosecute the war in this fashion, especially without doing their utmost to provide essentials to displaced civilians and without articulating a humane postwar plan and strategy for permanent peace.

No, the Israeli Government has made its calculation. It would rather have land than peace. The borders are known, it's the 1967 lines.

I'm not wasting my time engaging with you though. You aren't as smart as you think you are. You're very transparent.

You're probably right. I suspect that it's biologically impossible to be as smart as I think I am.

That said, Israel obviously wants both land and peace.

Same with the Palestinians.

But since I'm genuinely interested, I'll follow up.

PP (you?) wrote "That is why the US etc should just unilaterally recognize Palestine. It'll still be under occupation but there will be incentives for peace on both sides."

Exactly what version of Palestine should the US recognize, and how will that create incentives for peace?

Recognition does nothing except determine the borders. It makes peace negotiations be about the terms under which occupation is ended not whether or not it is ever ended.

It doesn't change anything on the ground. It's a dejure surrender by the Palestinians.

Good grief.

The attack on Oct. 7 was BARBARIC you idiot.

These terrorists attacked civilians on Oct. 7 and now they claim victimhood.

And, I'll note that this "Hamas official" is being interviewed in the comfort of a cushy office far from the consequences of the actions he condoned.

The phosphorus bombs they drop are more painful than a nuclear bomb. Burning is worse than being nuked .

Of course nobody wants either but in terms of pain level phosphorus hurts more. Hearing the screams from children in pain is mortifying
