Any one heard about Dr Hallman orthodontist at Chevy chase

We had a consult with her . She seems very knowledgeable and as per her credentials she has great expertise. But compared to other orthodontist who says the tooth is impacted for 9 year old she says there is still plenty of time and no rush and it’s not impacted . She says it’s too early to judge . She says we could wait. She has PHD in anatomy too . She says we have to let the teeth to take it’s time to erupt .

We went to her for a consultation and found her good. My issue was that when we scheduled the appointment the person on the phone said they took our insurance, which was important as my husband was unemployed at the time. When we went to check out, I was asked for my credit card and told that she did not take insurance. I think it was a genuine mistake by the person on the phone and I paid our bill but will NEVER return as this eroded my trust.

Sorry PP . But I remember when we had a consult years ago they said they charge for consult and they don’t even offer the free consultation for orthodontics . But OP , others here would be able to give you more info than me

I have heard from some colleagues that she is good but no personal experience .

We went for a consult (which was like $80), but the quote for braces was high and parking is not easy.

Yes parking is a problem if you have to come in every 6-8 weeks .

Park across the street in the Sak’s lot. My DCs (now mid 20s) were both treated there. We found Dr. Hallman to have more of a wait and see attitude which I liked. My DCs had moderate cases. One had congenitally missing teeth and the other had some bite issues.

We go there, primarily b/c one of my children was born with a facial congenital condition and Dr. Hallman is part of the craniofacial team at Childrens.

I have always found her to be very helpful - answers any questions I have had, answers questions my children have. If I recall, she spends a good bit of time with you as part of the consult. (She is very thoughtful, like one time my child complained about her lips and Dr. H went and got her one of their branded lip balms....)

The office location is a pain for us b/c of where we live. Parking, I find on the street maybe 50% of the time, have parked across the street at Saks a few times, and sometimes park in the garage.

I agree, she does tend to have more of a wait and see attitude, but has a lot of experience and is very compassionate.

Insurance - I know she does not take ours. I *think* they might participate with some plan(s)....we end up paying out of pocket and using a FSA so at least we get the tax break.

We saw her within the last year and they take our insurance. Our consultation was for craniofacial stuff though, not braces.

I consulted there for my DD and with RAD. Nothing to complain about RAD. I want to go with Dr. Hallman only issue is the logistics of travel and parking . Still deciding ? I really liked her very much and amount of time she spent for explaining . May I ask is come bean X-ray ( CBCT scan ) is part of every orthodontic procedure ?

Sorry type

Cone beam X-ray ( CBCT scan ) . If it’s not for parking and distance I would go with her than RAD

My 9 year old has an expander and braces with her. I don’t have anyone else to compare her too, but my kid likes going there so we’re happy.

They take my insurance.

I like that they offer very early appointments, can sometimes go before school starts. I find free street parking more than half the time. But really, the $5 parking is peanuts compared to the cust of the orthodontia!!!

Did she recommend the brace abc expander for your daughter ? Or you wanted it due to aesthetic? For us she kind of said we can wait another 2 years

I consulted with her and was not impressed. She seems very nice, but wanted to do two extractions and seemed to rely heavily on Invisalign projections (even though I was getting braces, not Invisalign) vs personal training/experience. Rad told me IPR or a 20% chance of one extraction and was right - IPR worked. I would have been unnecessarily down two healthy teeth with Dr Hallman which to me is unacceptable. Also I’m very nitpicky and seeing mold/cracked paint under the semi-dead flowers on the window sill told me a lot about the attention to detail in that office.
The two other orthos I’d trust in that area are Gerlein and maybe Bruno.
