Our nanny has started ordering takeout more and more recently for lunch. It’s mostly not an issue although she sometimes asks us for help with the app. My issues is that unfortunately, she doesn’t tip. Sometimes the order is delayed significantly I suspect in part because no driver wants to take the order. But also I feel bad that the Uber Eats drivers are coming up to our nice house and then getting zero or $1 tips. We are paying her a good wage and also she brings her lunch - she just enjoys ordering other food. We also order periodically from Uber Eats and I don’t know how it works but I don’t want our address getting a bad reputation as non tippers. We tip generously. We can’t say anything to her about her ordering or choice not to tip, right? |
Is she foreign?
And, of course, you can bring up that she needs to tip. Your address is going to get black listed. |
If I order lunch to be delivered to my office, I don’t believe it is any of my employer’s business how much I tip the driver. |
Your address won’t get a bad reputation |
It is when your “office” is your employer’s house and your employer doesn’t want their address to be blacklisted by drivers (which yes, does happen). |
Yes, it will. Clearly you’re not a delivery driver. |
Are you the only person at your address in the office? If no, it’s not the same thing. On Uber Eats addresses of residential homes are tracked by the drivers and OP may never see hot food again. |
+1. |
It is still not your business. She is allowed to engage in this transaction without any oversight from you. I’m sure you wouldn’t appreciate your boss demanding to see your Uber Eats receipts claiming that he’s worried about his workplace’s reputation among delivery drivers. |
Are you ? |
Are you? How does an address get blacklisted? I’m assuming when OP orders she leaves a good tip. Drivers will see that up front, no? |
Your nanny is taking advantage of you. Is the lunch for your child or primarily for her? She should either be bringing her own lunch or making lunch from the food in the house. |
NP. She’s spending her own money. |
Gotta be a joke! in this era, ordering out is that big a problem? |
Addresses dont' get blacklisted. The driver gets paid a fee. Tips are extra and not required (though I personally do tip).
It's not like the drivers all hang in a parking lot and trade stories about what house doesn't tip. There's also high turnover among drivers, so it's quite unlikely the same driver will get the same house and then remember it. Also, they dont' knwo who they are delivering to until after they have picked up the order. |
