Just left the playground with my young kids when a group of HS students came through stating there was either a person with a gun or an active shooter situation happening at the high school and they wanted us all to know. |
Here's a bit more info. https://www.arlnow.com/2022/02/10/breaking-police-on-scene-after-report-of-threat-lockdown-at-yorktown-high-school/ I think Arlington Emergency Services sent community text alerts already (my husband received one and we're NOT a Yorktown family).

There is not an active shooter. The school received a telephonic threat and it went into lockdown. There is an unconfirmed rumor that while police were searching the school, a gun was found in a bathroom.
But the gun part is unconfirmed. Students are now being evacuated to the Knights of Columbus on Little Falls. |
Thank you for the update! |

What is going on with society that is causing this? This is such a sad state of affairs for our youth. |
I heard there was an arrest at the school. |
UPDATE: The investigation continues and police remain on scene conducting a cautionary search of the building. As students are evacuated, those who are being picked up will be sent to the Knights of Columbus. Students who are normally bused will be sent home via bus.

Good. If a kid had a gun or more threats of shooting, they should be arrested. |
Any news as to who is responsible?
Just got an update for the freshman and JV games tonight are canceled. |
Lock down started at 1:32pm. I’m still locked in my room. Very little information has been shared with staff. I’m learning more updates from FB and DCUM. |
Also, The Varsity Boys Game will not have student fans. ONLY Parents can attend at Yorktown High School. |
Oh, I hate to hear this! Hugs! |
Good grief, you should have to forfeit. Arlington's cancellations have forced some teams in Fairfax to play weekend games and three games in a single week. It's a bit much. |
