I only applied to BVR and NPS for K.
I understand BVR is super competitive but my thought was if my child doesn't get in BVR, she'll get in NPS. Should I have applied for more schools? I really should've asked the question earlier but I just found this board and now I'm nervous. |
| In all honesty, yes, you probably should have. However, it may be okay. Your child may get in to one for both. It does happen. In the meantime, don’t stress as it won’t help. If your child doesn’t get in to either, at that point find out if your child’s preschool is willing to reach out to a school or call around (don’t rely on DCUM) and ask if anyone else has spots. You may have to cast a wide net but you will find something. You can look again in 1st if you aren’t happy. |
| Or you can just go to public, which, in all likelihood, will be fine to great. |
| It all depends on what your public option looks like. |
|
You're the only one who knows if you should have applied to more schools.
A lot of people apply to a very small number of "dream schools" and will be happy at their local public if one of those schools doesn't come through. |
That was our approach. Applied to 2-3 schools for each kid. These were the schools we were willing to pay for beyond what our public school offered. |
| OP: My public is not an option. Well, I guess it would be if I didn't have a choice. I'm really for hoping for one or the other. |
For what it’s worth and to make you feel better all three of my kids went to public for kindergarten tho all three later did most of their years in private school It helped me to decide that I had made the right decision choosing private(s) DC 1 public k. Private 1-12 Dc2. Public k-4 private 5-12 DC3 public k-5. Private 6-12 |
| You’ll be fine. |
| You’ll probably be fine, but you could reach out to a few similar schools to see if they’ll accept a late application now — maybe Concord Hill and River School. |
I’m first PP who replied to you. I get not wanting to do public no matter what. We felt that way and our kids are private school lifers. The suggestion above it a good one. Also try Primary Day, Norwood and possibly WES if you are in MD. Norwood is unlikely but other two maybe. Worth a shot. |
| OP: Thank you everyone. I will submit a couple late applications. |
| You aren't the applicant. |
Do you think her 4 year old is submitting her own applications? |
| Hmm. The current NPS pre-k class is big, with a lot of siblings. I don’t know if I would count on an easy in for K this year. |
