I posted this before for what I thought might be useful information.

Got a lot of responses asking for price comparisons between this and Costco, as though i would know. Also some comments on generic medications being cheap Chinese imports.

Made me sorry I posted.

I think it is great news. It's definitely legit.

Honestly, it is what our government should be doing: eliminating the middleman (and all the markup) and providing prescriptions straight from the manufacturer.

You don't get a lot of responses here on DCUM because most people here have decent health insurance and probably don't have to pay a lot for our medication. Or aren't on a lot of expensive meds. But this will be a fantastic thing for people without insurance, or with insurance but expensive deductibles and copays.

As to how it compares with COSTCO etc... I went to Good RX to look up my husband's transplant medication, tacrolimus.

Prices range from about $20 (Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter) for 90 pills .5 mg to $56 (CVS).
Costco is on the low end, charging $29.

Mark Cuban's drug company charges $26.40. So, a little cheaper than Costco but not as cheap as the grocery stores.

A lot of generic medication are from India or China.
For a lot of people the choice is between a medication they can’t afford or generic import.

The competition overall can bring drug prices down.
That is a great news.

As someone who uses GoodRx and price shops all of our prescriptions I can say with certainty that different places will be lower on different drugs. So Costco might be cheaper on X and Y drug, but Harris Teeter is cheaper on Z drug. I don’t drive around for a few bucks, but for a big difference I will (and do) get different drugs at different places. I will certainly add Mark Cuban to the rotation.

I checked for tacrolimus, 5 mg, 90 capsules

GoodRx: between $110 (grocery stores) and $569 (walgreens). Costco is $239.
